A wire has snapped off my Facet pump on my 84 carbed RR.
I could go out and buy a new one ,but my question is has anyone used a pump from something else. I've tried a pump from a Volvo 740 but as it was a injection has just over fueled the carbs .
I need a low pressure pump .
There must be something out there

there were 2 types of pump fitted to MGBs, one of which was the Facet. Whichever was fitted to US models, that's the one to have. Your problem is the amount of motion lotion a V8 can drink, most cars, even performance ones, can't drink that much so there aren't too many hi-cap pumps to choose from.
hey, that makes your car sound like Oliver Reid

Thanks
The trouble is it will be just as hard to get a s/h MGB pump as a RR one. Its a phone call to Paddocks I think. a new ones is 37 plus blairs bit so not to bad.
From a bit of surfing a carb pump runs around 3 to 4 PSi and most injection pumps run around 40 to 50 psi. So a injection pump will over fuel
As for drinking with the aid if a bit if Volvo fitted it used 1/2 tank in 5 minutes on tick over , not used but more like poured out of the overflow tubes, good job it was raining to wash it away. The moral is don't walk away to do something else.

What about the small in line pumps fitted to rover cars
Looks like a low pressure feed type, my mate is going to try and fit one to his v8 to try and get it running, after some muppets ripped the pipes away underneath after the fuel :?

I had the same type of problem on my V8 S/U carp Discovery a while back and I was told the £37 pound one was the injection one, the carb one was £80+ and not available
I ended up takeing the old one to bits and mending it.

No the £37 one if for the carbs , purchased and fitted. My pump was corroded solid no chance of getting bottom off to fix.
Why do they put them in stupid places so they collect all the c**p. I'm going to relocate it into the boot where the spare wheel should sit .

If you do that... put a box around it and *seal* it... you don't really want a fuel pump in the passenger compartment :?

Why do they put them in stupid places so they collect all the c**p.
So they can sell you another one.
Tim's right, you don't want the pump in the passenger compartmant.
