For the second time in about 18 months I've got a split fuel line above the tank on my TD5 - am I just unlucky or is this a common problem? Not seen it mentioned on here, yesterday had to drive it home occasionally using the rear wiper it was leaking/swirling so bad :-(

Either way, can you fix it before you kill a biker ?
It must be leaking out to cover the back of the truck, and coming up to winter diesel on the road is lethal.

In for the fix now.

Yep, had one of mine go as well, just between the front of the tank and the cross member. Great for getting your hand into for replacing the pipe.
It looked as though it had been rubbing on one of the other pipes and had worn through. I just cut out the bad section and put normal rubber fuel pipe in there as it wasn't on one of the pressurised ones.

There is a genuine repair kit for this, it was a recall ring your dealer and see if they can still carry it out. I did one a couple of years back but i havn't seen any come in for the repair recently.

Any idea if there was a reference for the recall Jim?
It's handy if you can quote something, makes it sound like you know more than they do!!
Edit: It's OK I found it after a Google: 11-8-2004 Safety Recall R/2004/093: on TD5 possibility that the rear fuel line may chafe against the harness, build dates 30-6-2001 to 19-4-2004.
