As we seem to have a lot more "tatters" plying the streets again, has the price of scrap gone up?
Or are they just unemployed trying to make ends meet
Whats the price of scrap by you?

If I go to the nearest scrapyard I can get £85 - £105 a tonne (depends on the day) and if I travel a little bit further afield and all the metal is clean (bare chassis's, old bumpers, ect) I can get up to £130 ish.

i got £75 a ton for mixed stuff - a tdi engine, old wings and bonnet, highlift and rusty sheets of carp out of gardens- two or three weeks ago. not bad as it was all rubbish i wanted rid of.

TBH that's not bad :-k
Last year some of my mates were buying cars form salvage auctions and weighing them in for a profit, but that was a spike in the demand as China stockpiled steel, £100 a tonne for mixed scrap sounds a good price on average.

price must be good -spring cleaned my garage out, put all the metal out to sort and someone nicked it

Got £85 a ton yesterday for a disco shell and general light iron in Brierley Hill, I haven,t seen a scrap wagon for a week up here, until yesterday when I was loading the trailer with MY scrap then 6 of them came round within two hours. I swear they can smell it and want it
