Can anyone tell me which is the highest ratio 1.211 or 1.222. And by how much higher?????????????????
-
Errr, EH?
The highest ratio os the one with the biggest number, that's what a ratio is. I suspect you mean which one will give you the highest road speed for a given engine speed and as it's a reduction ratio you want the smaller of the 2.
Are these the Borg Warner and the LT230 by any chance? in which case the B-W was designed for the 3.9 rather than the 3.5.!
As for the difference, well 1.211/1.222, or the reciprocal.
1.00908 or therabouts, almost 1%
-
well they r both 230s which came off discos. the 1.222 is the common disco that iknow of. The 1.211 came off a 97 300 commerical. so there is hardly any difference???????????????
-
If they are both LT230s they might actually be the same, unless the gears were significantly changed inside I can't imagine how there can be a 1% difference using the same size gears.
Possibly it's a matter of mathematics?
Anyway, the difference is negligeable.

thats alright then, ive just put it on and it goes for ever in each gear now!

looks like its the oil pump that I've damaged so picking one up tonight & hopefully getting that will do it if not its 'break-it up time'
-
Someone put EP90 in it then ?? That's a cert to lunch the drive gear on the oil pump !! It's only plastic or fibre and it doesn't take much to do it in, make sure you use ATf or synthetic in it !!

No, torque converter not lined up correctly when fitting engine

Easily done, shame to break it up if it's so nealry finished though.

Got a new oil pump for it now, so hopefully it will work now
