Errr, EH?

The highest ratio os the one with the biggest number, that's what a ratio is.  I suspect you mean which one will give you the highest road speed for a given engine speed and as it's a reduction ratio you want the smaller of the 2.

Are these the Borg Warner and the LT230 by any chance? in which case the B-W was designed for the 3.9 rather than the 3.5.!

As for the difference, well 1.211/1.222, or the reciprocal.

1.00908 or therabouts, almost 1%

well they r both 230s which came off discos. the 1.222 is the common disco that iknow of. The 1.211 came off a 97 300 commerical. so there is hardly any difference???????????????

If they are both LT230s they might actually be the same, unless the gears were significantly changed inside I can't imagine how there can be a 1% difference using the same size gears.

Possibly it's a matter of mathematics?

Anyway, the difference is negligeable.

Someone put EP90 in it then ?? That's a cert to lunch the drive gear on the oil pump !! It's only plastic or fibre and it doesn't take much to do it in, make sure you use ATf or synthetic in it !!
