Title: Lights

My 1990 front near side head lights are not working, dip or main.

Bulb replaced

fuses ok

Anything else i can try, all other lights on the vehicle are ok and all the earths seem ok

Help

Side lights on the front & back on that side working OK?

Yes all working ok.  No power at the fuse box. Looks like it could be a problem after the switchgear and before the fuse box

Any ideas

It's just a case of getting the wiring diagram and a tester and going through it until you find the problem.
Look to see what else is on the circuit, also look for any relays that power the lights as well.

It's quite common for the switches to breakdown on 200 Disco's - there's no relays in the loom so the power goes from battery via steering column switch to the headlamps - typically causes a bit of heat through the contacts after they become well worn and eventually breakdown of the switch.

Short term fix is a new switch, long term fix is a new switch and re-wire the existing feed to the back of the headlamps to switch relays and run a feed direct from battery to headlamp via the relay - this should make a marked difference in light output too.
