iam looking at getting breakdown cover but noticed a lot have in small print if they have to take you more than 50 mile and some just 10 mile you have to pay extra to get you and motor home any one no of any that will get you home with motor with out haveing to pay extrajust we going away soon and would like to get cover before we go and no were we stand if we do breakdown

all depends, aa and rac both offer services which will get your and your vehicle home within your membership without extra charge!

Join the caravan club and take out their mayday rescue, it's that much cheaper it makes it worth joining the CC and unlike with the others, when I ring up and say "my RR has bust a head gasket" they send out a flatbed and I'm on my way home in the hour, rather than them send out a little van that would fit in my boot with a little bloke to tell me "I'm sorry but I think it's your head gasket" and have to wait another hour like I got with the "big 2".
No limit on the size of my trailer either, but it has to have a 50mm ball hitch.
As a bonus, if I break down on holidy they take me and the caravn to my holiday even if it's the 'van that's broken down, then if they can't get it fixed they recover me home as well.

We decided to try GEM motoring assist (http://www.motoringassist.com/home.aspx) their top cover is £81.

thanks for the reply's
autohome cant see any fine print so looks ok
RAC looking at that one cant see any limit
caravan club u need to be a member to get a quote
AA wife said there is a limit to how far they take you then charge miliage
GEM had them before was a while back and when we read the fine print found out they would not recover our caravan as it was too big
needless to say i hate fine print so at mo it's between Autohome and RAC

Just to point out that normal car cover for Autohome is up to 3.5 tonnes where I think RAC is up to 2.5 tonnes, then you have to go for a commercial policy.
Our weights were increased recently when our boss got his D3 and found it wasn't within the weight limit, so the limit was upped .
:D ;)

I must say that through personal experiance the call handlers at Autohome are very good....
When I got stuck in the Hull floods they on the phone regulary to me to make sure I was ok...
At the last firm I worked for we had their commercial cover for the fleet...
I never realised you worked for them Frank....Send us some more work  [-o<

I broke down recently in Tiverton, called the RAC out, they got me off the motorway, and arranged recovery home.
The range rover and 16ft Ifor williams trailer(1 1/2 ton load) went on a lorry,I went in a taxi because i have a disability that i have to use a wheel chair.
The taxi cost the RAC £150, and the lorry must have cost £400/550.
All for my £90 RAC membership.
I broke down at approx 1600hrs and was home for 2000hrs, the range rover and trailer arrived at a friends farm at 2300hrs. You do get wot you pay for, cheapest is not allways cheap.
