Title: You don't get many of these to the pound.............
Post by: Lord Shagg-Pyle on April 14, 2009, 19:53:09
Not 4x4 related in anyway, but an awesome sight anyway.

I was out bobbing about on the Solent the other weekend and this leviathan hoved in view from the mist.
Yaar! T'was enough to make me barnacles shiver me bowsprit, yo ho ho and bottle of parrot.

Tis the Yankee aircraft carrier, USS Theodore Roosevelt, one of their little ones.

They truly are huge aren't they?

During my time in, I had a two week period on the USS Nimitz!!

That thing had its own getto's, no go areas, etc. I got lost on there several times

Apparently the latest one, the USS Ronald Reagan, makes this look like a rowing boat.

Crazymac, I was fortunate to also spend time on the Nimitz when I was in Mayport, what a ship, then I was working for a couple off weeks operating from Cecil Fields, long time ago and real lamp swinging times
