Title: Up in smoke
Post by: wizard on March 08, 2009, 11:03:55
Driving home from the workshop yesterday the Disco cut out at the traffic lights, and loads of smoke started to billow out from the steering coloum.
I switched off  and coasted to the side of the road. Tried to restart the truck but it wasnt having any of it.
I took the covers off the steering coloum expecting to see a lot of burnt wires but everything looked fine.
Checked all the fuses and they are all OK.
Everything works  except there is no power to the fuel stop solenoid.
The haynes manual recons the supply comes straight from the ignition switch. I tried to trace the wire on the solenoid but no luck.
As soon as it stops raining i think a bit of rewiring is required !!

Its gone off ebay now and I cant find the .PDF version.

Anyhoo, have a look at some of the Q&A's, should bring a grin despite your wiring woes :)

Magic :D
I'll have to get a jar of replacement smoke.
That had me chuckling for ages.
