Post by: jamesey on February 25, 2009, 16:43:09
i have 2 issues , ive fitted the 3" kap springs and fitted rhino rays cranked radius arms but now the rear steering arm rubs the radius arms , how do i get over this , also the front  panhard bolt that goes into the threadded part of the front axel has rounded and i cant tighten the front passenger side up??
and just 1 more thing will i need a front prop shaft extension as the toothed bit on the front rubber is showing????? :embarrassed:

1 - check your rear srearing ling is straight - there should still be clearance?
2 - Your going to have to do a thread repair - Helicoil or similar.
3 - You need a spacer, D+G do them, but I guess some one will do them in the UK cheaper.

just got off the phone with darren at kap and he said that the front radius arms are wrong , the arms were from rhino rays and i need to take them off ,  :-> thats another £150 waisted , he said there angled too much and i need to put the standard arms back on and stregthen them and just put some proper bushes in , also the threadded bolt hole in the axel he said i need to chop it out :shock:and weld another in

There really is something not right with your setup and I am not convinced its the Rhino Ray arms. They are certainly curved up but not to an extent where the arms should rub.

Here is mine....

As you can see, the steering arm is near the diff but a long way from the radius arm and it would have to be one hell of a curve to move it that much

Talk to them, they should swap them for you. The std arms are easily bent or broken so heavy duty ones are best.

I had castor corrected arms for a 4" lift on my last jimny (from DG tuning) and the rear steering link was nowhere near touching the radius arms, I'd send them back for a refund.
I have castor correction bushes on my current jimny and I feel theyre on the limit with a 2" lift really, I think you still need a set of castor corrected arms with a new 3" lift kit.
(Martins jimny has the extra weight of his cage and winches to weigh the suspension down a bit)

they do look a bit rhino ray ish.... they look like standard arms that have been cut and bent, then strengthened back up with plate to me. I'd still talk to him about taking them back or credit note if youve had them a while, they look bent.

i think they look bent because the shocks arnt on in the pic and the front axel is down but trust me there not bent there new.
ive been told by a jimny man near me that the arms i have are designed for a 2" lift , so does anybody want them. ill have to buy some kap ones  :undecided: :undecided:£££££££££££££

designed for a 2" lift? thats about 1 degree away from a 3" lift... so they should be nearly exactly the same. As for KAP items, check that your buying castor corrected arms rather than just heavy duty.
