Title: crunchin noise rear diff

as said went round a corner arse end kicked out crunchin noise from rear end hasnt thrown a pad when jacked up and spin a wheel crunchin noise is it the doff or the shaft and would it be easier to put a new diff in rather than muck about seeing whats wrong with it :|

yeah i would just chuck a new diff in it will only take hours work

You will ahve to remove the shafts (and drive flanges if seperate) to remove the diff so pull thes out first and make sure they are OK.

Then remove the diff and chances are the damage will be very obvious. Easiest solution with rover axles is to fit a fresh diff complete with diff carrier. This way you don't have the added work of seting up the diff.

ha ha henry i wasnt going to say but im not the only person to have made that mistake but atleast i know i have a great diff now with heavy duty shafts  :D
