i have 235x85x16 Muds fitted to my disco just wonderd whats the best tyres pressure for em?
also they catch when off road at the rear panels as expected does anyone one know best method of cutting back any pics etc?

i run that tyre size and found the best pressures are 26psi front and 33to35psi rear there is a thread on here do a search for camel ut il see if i can find it :D

i also run that tyre size nd had trouble with catching when off roading, fortunately(or unfortunately) they folded up slightly on my last outing :shock: :shock: so i took the angle grinder to the arches!!!!!! i would probably make a good
landrover owner cry!!!! but no more problem!!!! lol and once the chequer plate was back on nd cut to shape it looked ok again..... i try get the pics posted

thanks for the psi info..
well when i say off road ..the local quarry...i ran her up 45 angle and transfersed over some brows etc...and she caught on tyres..only just mind just dont fancy shredding the tyres ect...
put those pics up mate..just want i o look right when attacking with grinder :evil: :evil:

the best tool i find for cutting arches,i done my rangie with a 2 inch angled disc cutter,but mate,be careful,or you could go across ya paintwork,not that ive done that,hut hum :oops:

angle grinder..paintwork...no worried about that as i am re painting her sandstone by roller brush....and then some nice decals

I agree on the pressures, stick to standard 26/34.
As for the "camel cut" or as we RRC owners say "standard ;)" try removing the bolt secruing the body side to the mud flap bracket and extending the bracket to push the bodywork out an inch. Then all you need do is fold the bottom edge of the wing upwards for about 2-3 inches to clear the tyre.

Did you have to do anything else when fitting 235/85 tires cause I was gonna fit em and Siminites said it needed a 2" lift so I've held back. Does the front need anything doin. Mine is used mainly on the road but I do go off road when I go shootin but nothin too bad.

Im running the same size tyres as you and no lift and not a problem just reduce the lock and do a 8 point turn (oh sillly me thats normal for a 200tdi disco)

not fitted the tires yet cause of Siminites. Want to but haven't got round to doin the cut on the rear arches and wondered about the lift!

You'll probably find on articulation that they touch the insides of the wheelarch.

Would I have to do much cuttin to fit wheel spacers with the 235/85 tires?????

Again looking at that pic (not a true comparison as the RRC is wider than the Disco) you can see how near the bodywork you'll get. Add on what, 40mm for spacers :-k and I reckon you'll be rubbing most of the wheelarch on full tilt.
BTW, has anyone else noticed you get far more compression when the back of the truck is tilted over (ie front wheel in the air), I reckon it's because the weight moves over the comrpessed spring and squeezes it more. Same thing doesn't happen at the front because the weight is further back.

Yep thats good old weight transphere
Forwards up a ramp and the front axle did very little, but rear flexed a lot

Backwards up a ramp and total articulation was reduced, but front axle moved a lot more

With that setup there rear tyre did just tuck inside the wheel arch and only caught slightly on the section of inner arch that the doors outer seal fitted against. But as Andy points out these body pannels effectivly had a cammel cut from new. In this picture you can see that the front axle drooped about as much as when reversed up, but its the opposited side didn't compress as much.

If you get a little carried away with tyre size and wheel offset then you can end up cutting rather a more out of the aches than just a cammel cut. That was with 10.5" wide tyres and the equiverlant of using 40mm wheel spacers on each side.

Oh and Andy, stop tauning the discovery owners with body pannels that are right shape to start with :lol:
