Hi, I took the wading plug out of the bell housing on my rrc today only to find it full of mud  I thought the plug stopped this any ideas of why this happened and how I can get it out, cheers. Ben

The bellhousing is made "watertight by fitting a plate to the front egge after assembly of the engine and box. This plate has a rubber seal at the top edge and shouldbe assembled with gasket goo (though I don't recall any instruction to use it on the bellhousing). Any problems with fitting this plate will result in a leak.
To hose it out, fill the bellhousing through the drian hole using a hosepipe (just a trickle or you'll get soaked) then let it ruin back oout. You won't get it clean but you'll shift most of it.

Thanks for the reply, Do you think there is any point in me fitting the plug from now on as it lets water in? cheers. Ben

Yes, it will fill very fast if there is an air leak, the water wil displace the air quickly and flood the clutch. What you need to do is get the plug out much earlier, every time you wade supposedly, so that the water can't accumulate or dry out.
