Right ok here goes......
roof lights or bonnet pod or both????? :undecided:
-
id go roof lights because if you venture into deep water or long grass with a bonnet pod everything will gol stevie wonder :)
-
Both then.....
-
That's a better idea. Roof lights have their place, when wading or laning in the dark when you need them above the mud and high enough to light up any holes ahead of you, but for general driving they are best placed as close as possible to your line of sight, so a bonnet pod or A bar would be better.
-
had an a bar fitted but broke it @ sibbertoft first time i took disco off road :'(
-
That's a shame 'cos I like my spots exactly where htey are (untill cover them in mud).
-
wondered about one of those light bars that bolts to bumper.
your right about best place being at front when i had my abar on the light output from spots plus
head lights was amazing really miss that. :(
-
IIRC the bonnet pods aren't cheap are they  otherwise a metal A bar in front for protection and a light pos would be good. I've never had any probelems with mine but I have to admit the lamps stick out in front of the A bar. Something I've always intended to rectify, but not a priority.
I fancied a set of roof lights, I even got some JCB worklights because they are designed to work form that height and the beam pattern is set up accordingly. I bought a roof light bar, but it didn't fit. Gave up after that.

QT have light pods for £120+vat or £210+vat with angel eyes spots.
Probably better to spend that sort of dosh elsewhere
£50 for bumper light bar not too bad tho.

I wouldn't bother with the angle eyes spots personally. IIRC our A bar was about £60, fits a Defender bumper mounting so I had to fit some captive nuts to the (custom) bumper.
