Faulty switch, wire chaffing, worn out big ends.

The oil light on mine was on for about 6 months, When I changed the oil/filter it went off and now only comes on every now and then but goes off quite quickly so I'm not worried about it.  Ben

You can sometimes see the oil light flicker, at idle, on an end-of-life V8 because they were designed to run on thick oil, moving slowly around the engine and modern oils often get out of the way quicker then more iol can be pushed in.  In addit9on there is alimit to how hard the oil pump can work because it is driven by the distibutor, wind up the pump too much and the dizzy drive shears off.

the interim engine is much better as it has the crnk driven pump of the P38.
