my guess is the 3 ball joint one but depends on ya steering box i think as most have the balljoint in the drop arm the 4 one must be for one were a ball joint connects to the drop arm insted

You are going to have to look under your Rangie.

It will become obvious as one has a cast piece on the steering box joint  ;) (where as mentioned the drop arm has the ball joint)

Agreed, the 4 balljoint type would replace the much later '93 ish models and all softdash.  The drop arm is different on these, it's straight and just has a tapered hole exactly like the steering knuckle, to receive a balljoint.

The front drag link is also longer on these models, so you can't substitute one for the other.

I have wondered about fitting these to my disco but wondered if I strengthened the steering rods will it break something else instead. Are steering rods bending a designed weakness area on purpose?

That's a good point.  I think part of it is how far we push our cars 'beyond the envelope'

Make your own HD steering rods, I just welded a length of angle iron along each one for strength and they havn't bent yet.

I have the Sumo bars fitten to mine and I still manged to bend one! without breaking anything else. I was only greenlaning as well, nothing severe.

I telephoned the company and a new one arrived to replace it the next day.
