Title: range rover boot floors
Post by: woz on September 29, 2008, 20:11:52
Hi, wonder if anyone can help me again!!
The bottom tailgate hinge on my 93 range rover decided to "drop" the other day. On closer inspection the hinge has almost fallen away from the body, its has literally rotted away. Looking further, the boot floor is badly rusted letting in water etc.
I have a 90ltr gas tank in the back also. Is it possible to remove all the rusty crap and weld in a complete new hinge and boot floor, fortunately I have a donor vehicle with a perfect condition boot floor.
Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated,
Cheers guys.... :D

Sounds like the rear body x member is pretty rotten, the hinge fixes to it. I had a job to find a replacement but if you need one I may be able to help !

I got a new body x member from paddocks, about £50 IIRC and followed the above mentioned thread. I was lucky I had the alloy floor in my RRC. Good luck, it's a tough job but will put a few more years on your RR  :D

Paddocks couldn't supply a coupl eof months ago as their supplier had gone bust !

I got the last one that MM had for daughters new RR but I just happen to be breaking her old RR which has a two year old one in it which is mint no rust at all.
