				Hi all,
My 90 has failed its MOT on a leaking steering box   :(
Does anyone have any tips on how to fix it   :-k   as I do have a seal repair kit with 15 parts! but never touched a steering box before
Thanks

Im my experiance dont bother trying a seal kit, the output shaft will be worn to death, take the plunge and replace the box, ive wasted many an hour and customers money fitting seals,

I agree - I've twice tried to replace the seals and it's made no difference. Adwest PAS boxes are very good and they generally have a good reputation.

If its not absolutely leaking out, and its merely a case of getting it through an MOT before replacing a bit down the line......I have heard you can stick a tablespoon full of brake fluid into the PAS fluid and it expands the seals to give a temporary fix.........

Buy a tin of stop leak, steam clean it and take it for the MOT quick before it leaks again.  Anything else other than a new box is a waste of time.
DON'T put brake fluid in, it will destroy everything in the PAS system in time.

I Agree do not put brake fluid in the pas system !!! [-X

I agree with the steam clean, however if you were to re-waxoil the engine bay and maybe gently coat the pas box it may get through an mot. Or even give it a fresh coat of paint maybe

lucas do a power steering adertive that they garentee stops all leaks its 17 quid i havnt tried it though

Thanks for the ideas. I think then I'll look for a recon box      But where to go, Paddocks maybe?

Shop around for price but get a guarantee.  As most only rebuild them if they rebuild a worn one it might give up very quickly.  I reckon if they last a year then you've got a good 'un.
As for additive I use a Lucas oils one, it helps with oil temp as well as leaks apparently.

				UPDATE...
Hi all, Got new MOT today    I had to go for a recon box from National Power Steering through paddocks @ £138. A brand new box from Adwest would have been nice      but funds are tight!
