Title: West Midlands Regional Meeting - 13th October 2008
Post by: chris9119 on September 09, 2008, 07:51:48
The next West Midlands Regional meeting will take place on Monday 13th October. 2008 at the Church Tavern, Church Road, Perry Barr, Birmingham, West Midlands  B42 2LA. Tel. 0121 3564389

Meeting starts at 19:30 hours, but if your eating, please be early (19:00 - 19:15) so that we can order all at the same time for bigger savings.

As discussed at the meeting of the 8th September, I'm standing down as the Regional Rep. and therefore nominations are invited for the position.

The deadline for nominations will be Sunday 28th September 2008. Dependant upon the number of nominations, a poll will be opened on the 29th September for the Regions members to vote on the candidate/s. The new Regional Rep. will be in post for the meeting of the 13th October 2008.

Post your nominations on this thread.

New Regional m-c members always welcome.

We look forward to seeing you all.

Regards

Chris

I would like to stand for election, as West Midlands Regional Rep. It would be good to see some of the older members coming back to the group, as well as welcoming new members.

Hi Neil,

It is always good to see you at our meetings , but as a regional rep of Leicester I thought the candidates and the voting would be an issue for the West Midlands only.

Neil is as much a member of the West Midlands group as any of the rest of us. Neil attends all meetings and takes part in both local and national events, I'm proud to call him a Friend. For this reason he has both a right to vote and to express his opinion on regional matters. This vote has the potential to split our group if we let it, we need to stand back and take a breath and remember that we are all Friends who are in the club to have fun.

If having a regional Rep divides our group then my vote is that we dont have one!

There are core members who organize things and periphery members who come along.

There are those that I would trust with my life and those who would watch me get myself unstuck. There are those that wouldnt pass me a spanner, and those that would climb under my truck and repair it at the side of the road for me. There are those that would travel for miles to be with us based on our reputation as a group, something that Chris has embraced as rep and we thank you for it.

All these people matter, they are all friends of the club.

We are one of the most active regions of Mud Club, if not the most active.
We run the risk of polluting what we have got if we forget about why we have our club, and the core activites it provides.

I would be happy for Andy to take on the role of Rep if thats what he wants to do, and I will support him both in the office and on the trail. I would like to thank Chris for all his hard work over the years, keeping the group active, alive and providing leadership at the front.

Whoever takes on his role certainly has a tough act to follow!

I am looking forward to a new chapter in West Mids history, with new good times to come, new stories to tell, new friendships and a united, active club with support from all its members.

Hi Dr Neil,

Hope no offence was taken none intended.  Did not realise that other regional members could vote on other regional issues.  Since found out rules please accept my apologies I always look forward to seeing you at the meetings and events  ;) ;)

As someone who lives outside the group area I would just like to say a big thanks to Chris for introducing me to off roading in the first place (I've been in debt ever since) but mostly I'd like to thank him for introducing me to some very good friends . I definitely don't want to see the group divided .If there is going to be a few people going for the job then why not have a committee . Every one works well together and like Neil and Andy I don't want to see the group split. The comradeship in France, on maintenance and laning days is fantastic and should not be lost.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who has posted their thanks and appreciation via this thread, pm's or e-mails for the small role that I played in m-c and the region. I didn't do it for that, I did it because I loved our hobby and the local, national and even international friendship that came from being a member of what is probably the best 4x4 club on the net and in person.

Secondly, it was not my intention to cause a regional split by standing down as the rep. I've had a great time as rep, but feel that it's time to let someone else have a go and see if we can take the region and m-c on to another level.

I'll still be a member, out and about, and as said by others, will support the new rep, m-c and its membership in the future in whatever way I can.

Good luck to whom ever takes on the role.

Chris

Hey mate,no need to apologies and no offence taken :)

I wasn't making the suggestion as a Reginal Rep, just as a friend and attendee of the West Mids pubmeets.

See y'all at the next meet!!!

As a relatively new member and only knowing everyone for a short while I was amazed at the friendliness of the west mids club. I have only been on a few "outings" and have been made welcome by all right from the start.
I'd like to say thanks to Chris for all the advice he has given me.

As Pinky has said. I will back whoever gets the role and hope the club Carry's on in the same friendly manner.

I vote for Andygod as he is as enthusiastic as you could wish a team leader to be  :afro: He's had some good training over the years and some really good rep's to follow.

Work keeps me away from most events but hope to catch up soon.

Good luck Andy

Hope to be there at the next meet with Dr Neil and Jas as usual.

Everyone has always welcomed us whether at the meet or out and about even though we are from the other side of the M6  :D

Chris was one of the very first MC members to welcome me and the family ( a few years ago now ) and has done a great job in helping to build, not only the West Mids region, but MC in general. Not known Andy as long but I like him more and more....reckon he's the man for the job

see ya all soon
