Title: Y wont it rev?

ive got a 3.5 efi auto and when changeing gear it wont rev beyond 3500 and then when in top gear it wont rev past 3000 revs, = 50mph,
getting a bit anoying now, just been recently serviced, leads,plugs etc,still wont rev, any ideas?

I assume you've checked all the obvious bits like fuel pressure, ignition timing, mechanical advance, vacuum advance, blocked air intake, blocked exhaust (crushed, cats fallen apart, muffler disintegrated internally), that it actually get full throttle when you press the accelerator, etc, etc

yeah i only recently serviced it, and i cut the exaust off th the manifold to see iif it was blocked but still wouldnt rev right out, not sure wats wrong with it,im thinking it could be the ecu possibly, dont know,umm bloody british technology!!

just a thought, you say you have recently serviced it, did you use the same oil or a different one, might be pumping up the tappets early, a mix of a different oil of just 10% can cause the oil to sludge with micro baterial growth which would take a few days to set in, was it this sort of time that it stopped revving properly? might be worth a check before looking at the more expensive stuff...
