every time nearly when i got to start i get a clicking noise from my starter motor and it clicks behind the dash but sometime it just fires up but its very tempremental im worried im gonna be stranded somewhere soon do u rekon its my solonoid or my starter motor?
starter motor is under warranty until end of july shud i get it replaced?

Check your earthing strap (engine to chassis) - it sounds like you have a bad connection which is leading to tempermental starter syndrome.
Hope this helps

If your earth turns out to be ok then get another starter on warrenty, mine gave the same symtoms and was a goosed starter.
Have fun changing it try putting plasters on your knuckles before you start :D :D

I had this problem on my v8,when it happens(doesnt start)and you leave it for a while does it just fire into action straight away?I never really got to the bottom of it because i sold it before i sorted it but i half traced it to the relays in the passenger footwell as when i gave them a knock or a jiggle it would fire straight away i always thought in my own mind that it was a relay that had something to do with the alarm/imoblizer,but never got to find out as i mentioned above, what i was going to do is change the relays one by one and take it from there.for one reason or another i dont have a wiring diagram so this is purely guess work,is there a starter inhibtor relay sited somewhere down there as well?im sure someone that knows about electrickery will confirm this for you.I was sure it wasnt the starter on mine because i replaced that with a brand new one from land rover(i was young and stupid then with more money than sense)but at least it ruled it out.i will be interested to know the out come of this mate so keep us all posted.

so well find out tmrw if its the starter tmrw as the father in law is goin to exchange it for me
and whilst i was there i made a custom heat shield :-)
as the original had fallen off, i chose thick ally as it disperses heat well

Thats true I forgot it is a lot easier on a Disco than on my 110.
