are you sure it's because the NATO hitch is loose - knocking will be heard if you're towing a sankey as the connection is loose i.e. the ring of the sankey will move around on the NATO jaws even when they are closed and locked. One way to cut down the noise is to allow the NATO jaws to swivel.

Its defiantly play in the jaw and back plate...

If i get in the trailer and jump around (in the best house of pain stylee) i can see it moving.

Its not massive amounts of play, i just dont think it should be there!

I saw a guide on the interweb once on how to strip and rebuild.

Can anyone remember where it was?
