Post by: ibexman on February 13, 2005, 22:43:47
Hi
Anyone know the differences between a 90 and a 130 front axle apart from larger vented discs?

Well, my 130 double cab has salisbury front and rear, but it was a GKN 110, somebody lengthend it to 130, and my 130 CSW has only a salisbury on the rear.
And finding a salisbury front axle is like rocking horse, and hens teeth

Lofty - did you have to make up a special track rod with kinks in it to clear to diff casing?

ok

done bit thinkin (very hard work)
130's shouldnt have salsburys unless specially fitted ,see above for what they should be on,the salsbury has a kinked track rod as standrd to clear the diff but is rather vulrnerable on bowlers if running 235's,if ur runnin 35" tyres should be fine, only military 90's & 110's had 4 pin front diffs & V8 90's had 4 pin rear diffs as standard,

110 post 94 had vented front disks but standard internalls, salsbury fronts have vented disks same size as the 110's & same size calipers

any more detail just ask n ill have a think

thanks for that. So i take it that the casing is the same, assuming no salisbury.

Sorry about delay Ibex m8, been away. The front track rod is kinked as suggested, but all seems heavyer than normal. Its was a GKN 110 HICAP, the back was full of batterys for starting tanks, previous owner turned it into 130.
