the genuine landrover one goes behind the grill, infront of the rad top left as viewed from the front, the operating switch for that then goes to the bottom left of the steering wheel you should see a knockout on the dash

I used to have my second battery cut off switch under my bonnet

I've since done away with that isolator because i will be fitting winch soon so i'll be putting a more heavy duty version on that will cope with the amps a winch will want (like this one)

I'll be mounting that somewhere in the car so no one else outside the car can activate my winch

Jake, i have the HD cutout mounted in my front grill, but, as i have internal controls for the winch, i have also fitted a switch so the the controls are either operated inside, or outside, and when the switch is in the central position, it basically immobilises the winch, so even if someone did push the cutout in, the winch still can't work.......

Be carfull that all power to the winch can be cut off as we had a spate of cars being pastied a while back...

Winch cable over roof hooked to tow hitch then the winch shorted  :( turns your pride and joy into a pasty shape...

Perhaps worth a padlock through the rope gimble to the recovery eye then.

Thats a decent idea Ron  :D
I'll still go for the internal isolator though, better safe than sorry.
I want to be able to complety kill the winch so that it cant be tampered with  ;)

Hows this for another reason for the outside cut-off...... i wanted mine within reach of whomever might be stood in front of the truck, as the driver can't always see whats going on, with the cut-off in reach should an accident happen, the power can very quickly be isolated....... hopefully it will never happen, but i'd rather have fingers than an out of reach cut-off......
