In the interests of accuracy.... you must immediately change the title of this post to...
I'm a Landy Owner and I'm Broke... I'm Also a Student!!!

Just testing this teletype thingy....?!!! (Edit: Is that it?!!!! **disappointed!**)

-
Oh Gawd, another Pot Noodle eater! Only joking!
I own a Landy, I have a wife who owns horses, a daughter who owns horses and has just finished being a student. I am so broke, the president of Bolivia phones me up and says "How are you doing, Skinty McPoor, the poorest person outside South America?"
Does that count?
Welcome!
-
YES ME rasbo!!
and im only down the road.
i seem to spend more then i earn on the thing, then go bankrupt, then work: to spend it on the landy :|
still i love it!!

not daft m8, i wanted to enter mine but my landys one of the very common landys that demands money to fix things. so instead of entree fees and a new winch i had to replace the engine
thinking crousirre blanche next year tho :-k :D
whilst i'm thinking (doesnt happen alot), a MC student event would be cool, been thinking bout trying to get sponsorship from the uni for events etc.

happy birthday
-
I'm a student (1st yr automotive engineering at leeds uni), own 3 1/2 rangies and am usually broke until i earn some money, then spend it again.
Doing a year out didn't help that much, all it means is my earnings are invested in LR's
Happy Birthday Kieran, that makes 2 of us this week :P
(I was 20 yesterday)
-
happy birtyhday jjsaul :D
ive just been offered a light wieght i might go for it  just gotta work out how to get arounf the £600 debt, then get enough money to buy it  thats why landys are so fun
-
thought id join in, first yr student studying fine art, got a 200 tdi in northampton , does anyone have any advice for how the hell i can afford anything for my landy while im a student??
-
go talk to you local indian restuarnt become friends with them, then get their used cooking oil as it is the cleanest used stuff there is, get the uni to give you some personal space to do things and start filering the cooking oil, halves the price of fuel, plus alot of what people say about cooking oil is nonsence ;) it works in a 200tdi, and then if the fuel pump on mine does break i have saved enough moeny to buy a brand new one meaning i can up the amount of cooking oil i use
you could also get a part time job?
cheers kieran
-
3rd year, mech eng. Money's tight but its not the landy that's the problem, generally that works pretty well and is cheep and easy to fix. The van on the other hand is giving me real grief and it has to work for the summer!
-

get a student loan, and by bits for the landy with it instead of paying rent . I finished last year with a tidy looking landy, but owed 3 months rent and bills which i swiftly passed to my dad to avoid the debt collectors. Don't think i'd do that a second time tho, he was fuming :D
had a part time job aswell but i worked it out that with my old engine, i wasn't actually making any money, i was only just breaking even on fuel
Had mine for nearly 5 years now so been broke foreva really!
been trying to fiqure out when i had my first....ah a SIIA at 14, auntie signed it over to me for 50p , been hooked since.

I'm broke, I was a student, and it's BECAUSE I'm a Landy owner - no really
-
guy i used to work with in a garage said if i kept my landy id neva have any cash in my pocket, he was very right! problem is with landies you neva just keep them as they are theres always something to buy or modify!
Rasbo i used to be in Wheathampstead house on the lower luton rd with the white egg sign, but now im in Devon! landy fits in here too well, so got few paintwork plans to help stand out again!

Im a student I was broke, but money matters have been resolved, having finally recieved my student loan from january, and the most recent installment 3 weeks ago!
Im at Liverpool JMU, studying Outdoor and environmental education.
My disco hasnt broken recently and is behaving itself (frantically searching for something made of wood) although it does need a few bits sorting ready for its MOT in a couple of weeks. In fact its actually made me a few quid since I have had it at uni........Towing other student bangers about, and fishing cars out of floods in wales!
Chris

Graduated July 07 as a mature student (nick name at uni was Gran!), took 7 months to get a job and 3 weeks to be made redundant from it!, got a landy and a horse, does that count?
-
yeah i suppose that counts, gran  used to have an arab a few years ago, then i got hooked on landys. sister and mother still have theirs tho, think horses cost more to run than my landy :D

right the dates for it are Tuesday 27 to Friday, January 30, 2009
cost wise its roughly £300 for registration
ontop of that you need money for fuel, a place to sleep (unless youre hard and fancy sleeping in -10deg-ish) ferry or channel tunnel (lpg has to go on the ferry)
I'm prob gonna be budgeting between £700-800
But will also take a lot of spares
Taken from thier website:
Mandatory Equipment
- Tires all-terrain
- Snow Chains
- Rope or webbing 10 m
- Snow Shovel
- Spare wheel
- Flashlight
- Survival Blanket
They also recommend
- Tera Trip
- CB radio
- And obviously warm clothes
-
that looks/sounds fun!
i would love to do it but i seem to be in with the landy rallies and the macs at the moment :D
best of luck,
kieran
