Title: Fuel Tank Question ?
Post by: Paul on February 07, 2005, 22:21:06
Ok... The fuel tank on the bobtail only holds 5 Gallon....

I may be able to get a 1992 classic fuel tank with sender unit and fuel pump. :D

The question is: Will the EFI fuel pump be ok with a twin carb engine..?

You might run into problems with having too much fuel pressure.

There is quite a big difference in the systems.

The fuel pressure on the Efi is governed by the pressure regulator on the fuel rail, so the short answer is no ;-)

I think their problem was that the return pipe was too large, so there wasn't sufficient pressure at the carbs.  The kink in the return line restricted the flow and increased the fuel pressure.

The boy racer magazines sell adjustable pressure regs. They call them something like "power boost valves" Altho' they sell them to increase pressure and I'm not sure how much adjustment you get. might pay to have a play, don't know what they cost tho'.

Karloss, they tend to be for EFi vehicles... to replace the standard fuel regulator.... and they are expensive :-(
