Title: Range rover 1986 fuel gauge
Post by: Keith Bailey on February 07, 2005, 15:26:03
Have an 86 range rover that we use in a boat club to tow out boats unfortunatly someone got carried out with an internal steam clean including the instrument panel !!
Took whole panel out and dried it but fuel gauge , temp gauge and tach dont work. Looks to me like its the plug in module at top LH side, held on back by 2 screws that appears to be a voltage stabiliser etc. Only need to have fuel gauge working (actual gauge is ok as tried it with 9v battery). Anyone know where i can get this module cheap or what voltage the fuel measuring system works at ??

If you do get a secondhand one, make sure it is from the same model year, as I just swapped mine for another thinking it would cure some warning light problems, only to find it stopped the low coolant light and low fuel light from working. The circuitry in them looks slightly different too.

About 9volts, funny though, I thought they were all the same, still, you live and learn!
