Rangie 3.5 V8 Carb Auto
it Over Heats all the time, i have changed the water pump (as it leaked nd the bearing was shot), i have fitted Electric fans, which work fine and flow correct, the T-Stat is removed (to allow cooling beter) i found a small blockage of CRUD in the small Pipe from manifold to the radiator, Cleared the blockage with Airline and it kicked a load of CRUD out the manifold and then worked fine and then on way home from work it overheated i have flushed the system once.
Please help as im going to Torch it if i cant fix it soon

It's going to be something annoyingly simple, popssible another partial blockage, perhaps the system isn't bleeding itsled out and you have an airlock. As a guide if you take the brass/plastic plug out of the rad you should see water spiraling in the space below, this tells you the pump is pumping and the system should start to blled itself.
I'm not totally familiar with the carb 3.5 but if it has the large brass nut on the heater pipes then you have to fill the system there and not the header tank, I also bleed air under pressure from this nut (be careful, you have to do it with the engine hot).

it hasnt got a brass nut on heaterpipes, i open the Radiator Bung and water Spashing and bubbling around,, the pump is brand new and does Flow fine
i have forced water in (using hose pipe) and it now seems to have cleared itself :dance: but for how long i dont know???

Sometimes when you change water it seems to develop air in the system as the O2 boils out.

Might it be something not directly related to the cooling system its sefl like a carb running lean, causing the engine to run hotter than normal?

it is definatly a Cooling Problem, i balanced the carbs on a regular basis (once a week when i remember but no longer than a month between) and it is always on the Gas analyser to try getting a decent fuel consumption out of here :oops: :doh:
i jinxed it yesterday saying it had sorted itself out, last night i poped out to road test it and it blew the top hose to bits, so i had to run it with out the rad cap on after bodging the hose back together to get home and then this morning fitted hose from disco, checked it and bled it up, seems OK so far but i will try again tomorrow and see what it does when i put the rad cap back on (but i think it will over pressurize the system again)

Maybe try running it without the rad cap on then, see if it spews some air out :-k

been a few days now and it seemed to be going good (not been on long journeys) but yesterday i had to go on a long journey and it overheated every 10 mins after it initially over heated which was within 30 minutes of setting off, i kept putting water in nd bleedin the air out, it took about 1/2 litre of water each time, but the expantion bottle does not empty it is just the radiator (i thought the expantion tank was ment to keep the Radiator topped up ??? :huh:)
so today a set about clearing it and flushing it again - no crud came out at all - just clean water and a small amount of rusty water out the bottom of the radiator,
put it back together and bled it up using garden hose and left it running on the drive for about an hour (yes i know :-> look at the fuel bill :shocked: :shocked:) and it didnt over heat at all so i took it for a run, and with in 20 mins it had over heated and had lost water but i pulled over and left it idling it cooled itself down, checked the water and it was a bit low (i cant see any leaks outside engine, i have not got any proof of water in the oil and i dont get excessive steam out the exhaust)
i am guessing my one or both of my head gaskets have gone :'( :'( :'(

our carb v8 110 used to run hot under load (climbing hills or in traffic)...put a new rad on and cured it for good...never even need the fans on now

My LSE was getting hot when I towed, ofddly not when it was working hard but if I stopped in traffic at the top of a hill :shock:
After trying to flush it and replacing a few bits I swapped both the viscous hub and the rad. Sorted. Thesse radiators do not seem to respond well to chemical flushing.

it was the electric fans i fitted :doh: wired them up the wrong way round :oops: :oops:
and i stuck a K-seal in Just incase i did any damage when i boiled her up

but i wired it up the correct way first then thought it was the wrong way because i was not thinking straight :? :-.
