Title: Removing the engine - 200 TDi

Hello everyone, sorry for the flurry of new topics! (mods if there are too many please delet where applicable!)

Right, after spending the day trying to get to the bottom of an unknown engine the general conclusion is that it needs a rebuild and it'll get one. However, I need to get it out. I have already stripped off all the pipe work and the electrical bits, it onle leaves the seperation of the engine and 'box.

Is there an easy way to do this? Any advice would be greatly welcome as I have to do this twice and then put it back together again once.

I have decide the best way to get the other engine out of my scrap car is to remove the front wings and chop off the inner wings and front panel - leaving me with repair sections for the future :) -

the way we did it last time was to undo the bits that attach it to the gearbox, then remove the engine mounts and lifted it out.

hi mines been out twice so far i found it easyer to disconect all pipes electrics ect. jack up engine with block of wood under sump (or better still if you have some sort of engine lift just leave it attached) take off engine mountings. that gives you enough room when lowered to access the top gearbox bolts( wich even then are a pain. :doh:)then all bein well should come out piece of cake. get a trolley jack under the gearbox while you lift the engine... just to ease it off the gearbox bolts!
doing mine at the moment too!

An engine hoist is the way to go.  Hire one for a weekend, or buy one for £100 then sell it on afterwards.

Hey Bud.

Well after removing 2 engines and all the gubbins that go with them, making 1 good engine out of the pair of them, dislocating my finger, bleeding lots and having to drap the engine up a gravel hil for 20 meters  :evil:, I was ready to call it a day.

Then you popped in and I thought great, LETS DO THIS!, well it never got any closer than what we had it mate, I seperated it in the end again and was ready to down tools, then 2 good mates called and said they were comming to the rescue, so they arrived at 8pm, we got done at around 10ish, still not together, there is something quite strange about this as there is no reason they shouldn't go together.

Further investigation tonight methinks

or do what i do i got big beam in garage hook your winch or one from a mates landy on a swing block down on to engine how presto one winch :)

Easiest way to remove engine and box from a scrapper is to cut front   slam panel out then have the whole lot out in one. be out in 2 hours easy with tea break. :lol:
