hi guys
thought i sorted this problem but obviously not...... disco started loosing power and the revs really droppped off. i had really run the tank low so i assumed i had sucked up crap out the bottom of the fuel tank. changed the fuel filter, bled the system and it seemed to do the trick then today it started loosing revs again and struggling to start.
then it will run fine........... any ideas wot the problem cud b (other than the fact its got a green badge on it)!!!!!

Could be the fuel lift pump, but if you were able to prime it with the manual lever on this then it probably isn't. I'd check the metal pipes coming out of the fuel tank, apparently they can corrode.
-
couldnt prime it using the lever, it turns but nothing happens so just kept cranking the engine. it worked eventually!!! got a flat battery in the process..... so cud it be the fuel lift pump?????
-
Yes, it might well be, certainly I would change that first as it's not too pricey. Mine failed after I changed the filter and tried to prime it, pumping the lever did nothing and I had more or less exactly the same symptoms.

have tou checked sedimnter on inside of nsr arch if you have one i have a few probs with them lately just remove it and new pipes inplace :)

if you want me to have a look at all then bring it up to the workshop and i will take a look
tomorrow in the daytime or when ever is convenient for you

sounds like air getting in somewhere.
I have installed a veg oil kit and the pipe that runs from my new diesel tank bypasses the lift pump. It took ages to start then driving down the road it would conk out completely and wouldn't restart.
I found it to be one of the jubilee clips wasnt done up enough by a small amount so air was getting into the system. It was easy to see as I have a clear fuel filter bulb so the bubbles were appearing in there.
I would go on the bet of air and coming in through a corroded pipe, because if mine runs ok with not using the lift pump on diesel then yours should be ok with no lift pump as well?

blocked fuel pick up ?
if the lift pump is sat open on the cam lob it wont work off the manuel primer

I think when lift pumps break they tend to let air into the system - IIRC there's a rubber diaphragm in there that does the pumping? I got the impression that when I went to prime mine the diaphragm gave up (presumably the hand pump moved it further than it was used to!)

thats what i would have said this one has done but it started perrrrrrrfect  so i dont think it is getting air in it
