Title: Found a Drunk Last Night !
Post by: mike142sl on December 22, 2007, 09:50:45
We live on a quiet cul-de-sac where few people drive or walk along on a Fri night. At about 8pm a friend who had just picked up my daughters friend returned to say there was a man collapsed on the path.

Sure enough a young lad who had obviously been drinking since lunchtime was sparked out wearing nothing more than a light shirt, jeans and office shoes - the temperature was -1. If we hadn't have found him he probably would have been dead within 30 minutes. Fortunatley he was still concious and I managed to get him into the warm and find out some details about where he lived, which happened to be 10 minutes down the road. The phone number he gave me though turned out to be one of his friends whose mother answered ! unfortunatley for the drunk she knew his in-laws and rang them to see if they could pick him up - oh dear   perhaps he is wishing he was dead this morning ?

he's lucky he landed on someone kind hearted, most people would have seen him, thought they looked like trouble and left them there or called the police, bet his mother was happy with him

All joke's aside though, why do people get themselves into such states where they cannot do anything, IMO these are the people looking for trouble when they're out on the tiles

Do people not think about hypothermia? Well done on you mate for stopping. Some would have had his wallet away and left him, and some would have just walked on by.
Top marks to you.

People just don't think... When I was getting my Pizza last night there was a drunk in there. While waiting for his he went to sleep   when the staff woke him up, he insisted on shaking everyones hands :?: I hate it when they do that.

What? Waking you up from a drunken stupor? Yeah, know how that feels. I'm usually quite happy in my own little soft, fluffy, blurry world! The boogers!

He did offer me money to get a minibus??? although I'm not sure he would have had any cash left after the amount he must have packed away. He had an expensive looking phone as well which I tried to find a home number on but couldn't work out how to unlock the key pad. Fortunately he wasn't aggresive with it so he was fairly easy to deal with. Had he been I would have tied him to a tree and called the police. Well perhaps not the tree bit.

His wife rang this morning to thank me for getting him home which was nice, turns out they've only been married a few months - bet the in-laws are wondering though. Wonder what he'll be drinking there on Christmas day?

As the lone sober one on nights out, I usually end up dealing with them. This would be why I don't go out much!

Ditto. I hate dealing with drunk people. I find it hard to get any sence out of them. I just keep thinking that in the morning I can remember everything and not have a stonking hangover where as them

I found 5 this morning when I walked into work, most of them had arrived in 'blue-light taxis'
One had arrived care of Boggert/Lord Shagg-Pyles West Yorkshire collegues, & left attached by some charming looking metal bracelets.

According to my collegues on the night-shift, the waiting-room was the venue for a bout of fisticuffs as early as 20:30 yesterday!, now the scrotes usually have some decency and wait until at least midnight.

Hey-ho................. Wonder what Tuesday 25th will bring us??, as I'm on a late
Food-poisoning, assaults (domestics?, over calling her mother a ???), drunks, kiddies who have swallowed batteries/toy parts

I found a guy lying in the road one night on my way back from shooting. It was about 1am, very cold and he was blotto. No more than a quick call to the boys in blue. I dont get out of my car for nobody at that time of night. Especially when there are guns in it.

Shouted out the window to make sure he was still alive. :)

Got praise from the police for not driving over him.

You also have to take everything with an open mind; someone lying on the floor smelling of alcohol isn't necessarily a drunk.

He could have slipped on the ice, or tripped, and knocked his head, been assaulted and rendered unconscious, he could be a diabetic, he could be on prescription medication and not realised the effects of even one small drink could have, he may have suffered a heart attack, or stroke.  He could be a drug addict.  He could also have been knocked over by a vehicle (ok a cul-de-sac might be stretching it a bit), or fallen off a bicycle which has since been stolen.

The list could go on, just don't assume anything.

People that step around and don't want to get involved should think about whether they'd want someone to leave them there if they were lying on the icy ground.

When I was in the army, I went out one morning (about 6.30) and we found one of the lads fast asleep on a ROPE.  It was used as a fence around our squadron office.  It still amazes me when I think about it!  He had a habit of doing it – we also found him asleep against the regimental WWII Churchill bridge layer.  He was a nice guy though – but I can’t remember his name!  Must be getting old!

i was the drunk Thursday night (works doo)

company barred from Durham
one MIA for 12hrs - turned up in hospital with a drip in his arm!
one naked - had to be carried to bed by 4 of us
one argument with the big man (not me luckily!)
..and a very interesting assortment of badly hungover faces in the office the following morning!

i wasnt too bad until i got home (SWMBO was driving) i remeber opening the car door, then seeing stars.. i remeber walking upstairs to go to the toilet, i remeber the shelf at the top of the stairs been on top of me, i remeber SWMBO holding my john thomas so i could use the lavatory without ruining the floor...

i recall driving the big porcelain bus, then been in bed.....

...much of the rest is a blur... i`ve just about recovered now!

i`m not drinking again, well not today anyway!
