Title: Pesky ABS light again
Post by: Mud_Medic on December 11, 2007, 16:32:16
After a little light off roading, all was well. I washed the Disco down. All was still well.

After taking the bus around the block before reversing it back on the drive, there was a sqeaking of brakes as I pulled to a halt. The TC and ABS light came on.

Reversed onto drive with no problem.

When I restarted the engine, the TC light was out, but the ABS light remains on constantly.

Is this likely to be something simple like an ABS sensor, or something the main stealer   will need to perform a wallet-ectomy over.

Thanks for your ideas.

Ed,

Depends where you are.  There's a few of us with diagnostics that I'm sure wouldn't mind lending a hand to find out what error has been thrown up.

But yes, you do need to have the ECU checked, and the dealer is a last resort

Thanks Simon, thought as much.

The vehicle is an 01 discoII V8 and I am in Herefordshire.

There might be things you can check yourself, have a look in a workshop manual if you can get one, like RAVE for example.  Even without diagnostics you should be able to check some of the inputs to the ABS unit.
