Title: stuck door on a 90
Post by: j.stobart on December 10, 2007, 21:43:32
Anyone got any suggestions as to how to open a door that is well and truly stuck closed?

Cant get door card off cos seat is in way (range rover seats) cant get seat out cos door is in way, aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhgggggggg, I've swore at it, kicked it, talked nicely to it, fettled it, pleaded with it, and finally left it to sulk, I think it must have its period or somat, its been 6 weeks since it saw any mud, but its gettin a treat this weekend at frickleys charity xmas weekend offroad event

Have you tried unscrewing the door from the hinges then giving it a wiggle?? Or a little WD40 on the latch from the inside?

I recon the cheapest way would be to butcher the door card with a stanley knife, at least then you might be able to pull the correct rod and force it open...

Can you see any of it with the bigger seats in?

How about getting in the back and undoing the bolts to the latch bit?

That might give it a little more movement....

Straighten out a wire coat hanger, stick it down the window gap, wiggle it around til you latch onto something, give it a pull, if it don't work....try again, keep at it til it opens.

got it sorted with a big hammer!!

has just added another characteristic "dent" to the door, can be explained away as an offroading adventure.

When I finally did get it open, took the door card off, and it was the lever than is supposed to spring back when you push the outside door button that was the problem, not returning to its proper position (full of mud) gave it some WD40 and its fine now.
