Hi,
Does anybody use the Insa Special Track Tyres? If so what are they like for handling and noise on road and generally off road?
Thanks,
Ben
-
dont use them, got simex ( what there a copy of )
road, dont expect miricals, they will do as they please in the wet
dry there ok
noise, get some good earmuffs
off the road, apply to much power in soft stuff, u will end up in china
but they grip, and just dont stop gripping !!
they can be brutal on drive train, just depends on how heavy the lead in the right foot is :P :P and how hard the ground is
dont let the road thing put you off, i love my simex, makes it fun to dirve

Offroad they make bad drivers look good, the increase in grip over mt patterns is like going from road tyres to muds. (dependant on the terrain of course).
Onroad expect the worse and you'll be pleasently surprised!

There are a few of us with these and all seem pleased with the performance, I have gone from Grizzly Claws to the Insa ST's, and I am more than happy.
They are quieteron road than Simex IMO as I think there are softer compound, but will obviously ware faster, careful on the corners when it's wet on the road (just dont drive mad)
Off road they are great, they clean themselves very well, my mate runs 35" Simex and and I run 235x85x16 Insa's and there is not alot of difference in them so far. my 235's stand 33" so i loose 1" ground clearence, apart from that time will tell :!:

I have ran two sets of these tyres now and there awsome in the mud and scary on side slopes    but in the end changed back to kumho mt like bfg mt as they were wearing to quickly, and i think they are complete over kill on greenlanes  and now the disco i have drives much better and not shakening me to bits unlike when i had the insas.
so to some it up in my eyes all depend what your needs are i.e green lanes pay and play etc etc if you do more green lanes then don't buy them or if you do pay and break them get em now    :D

Martin..the Kuhmo's are still going strong?? 8)

simex have a much larger tread than the insa's and dig far better
also the simex hold there shape alot better until you get down to 7psi, then they start to sag on the sidewalls
but my god to they clean, next best thing to having lockers fitted
some people complain about road noise, end of the day, its a land rover
want a nice ride, buy a jap crapper

Is there an online outlet for Insa Turbo Special Track? Can't find a price list.
-
paddocks sell em but only in about 3 sizes. cheap though!
-
Good off road, not so good on road. My fronts seem to lose 1mm of tread every 800-900 miles, maybe less.

i use them, great off road. ok on road in the dry but noisey, dam scary in the wet
-
there great off-road loads better than the general grabber mt's i used to have, noisey on the road but the sterio has a louder button
paddocks is where i bought mine from, 235/85/16 on range rover rims, fitted to my none lifted 90 works great
cheers kizz

whats the difference in price???
i can understand you pay for what you get but at what cost!!!!!
I use ventures 33x12.50x15 M/T's i love them off road and they make me smile (nervously) in the wet,but they do look good, apart from, the large rip in one due to the body fouling them on full articulation, damn wheels!

Possibly the fact that Insa only manufacture 3 sizes in this tread might have a bearing on what paddock stock and sell
Price is about £65 for the 265/75, £69 for the 235/85 plus £20 delivery (the 3rd tyre is on a 15" rim size - 205 or 215 maybe?)
Lewis4x4 do free delivery but charge more for the tyre
There are local tyre fitters that'll charge around £77 fitted and balanced can be cheaper in the long run
Do a google search for them - you'll find what you need then
-
paddocks are free delivery cos its over £50!
just ordered another myself (265) after ripping a hole in a sidewall on a rather pointy rock.
excellent in mud and sticky stuff, not too bad on the road unless you really push it in the wet, in which case you'll end up offroad sooner than you thought!
