Title: 200Tdi to 300 Tdi

Well it looks like the time has come for my 200 Tdi to be put out to pasture.The offside sill is crabby inner and outer The head could do with a skim I,ve done the gasket but it gets warm on hills.I think the clutch arm has cracked as its getting harder to get clean gear changes. There are other things its a Jan 1990 and showing its age.So I went out today to look for a replacement sooner rather than later and the first one I found a half tidy 300 Tdi auto N reg.There seems to be a lot of complicated stuff under the bonnet that mine doesnt have.Its solid in all the right places.I crawled everywhere under it.It needs front discs  but they are cheap enough from Paddocks.Is there anything other than the stuff I know with 200's that I need to look for.I,ve been offered it for £1600 which is a reasonable price.

If its solid and the engine sounds good rip his arm off!!

The engine sounds good it pulls well enough for an auto.There are a few jobs to do on it but its a 11 year old motor.So I,ve took the plunge left him a deposit,so I can collect it tomorrow. I hope the insurance wont be too cruel and let me swop the policy over.Now the first thing on the list is a snorkel,plus I hope the lift kit will swop off the 200 Tdi .Its got a rear anti roll bar that my 200 doesnt have .Can it do without this?.

i have an m reg 300tdi, 2" lift and both ARB's removed, and handles just as well as before the lift.

Buy some towball psacers and lower the ARB mounts by at least 2".

The 300TDi can actually be cheaper to fix than the 200, check out the price of a new head for one thing :wink:

We've got both an auto and manual RRC in our family and they are both excellent machines, both good for towing but as always the auto is easier to drive with a trailer on and drinks a bit more fuel.
