hi i would like to know if there is a bearing inside the rear diff where the prop flange bolts thru ,and if so what bearing is it called.thanks

Yep, it's a taper roller bearing,

Just had to tighten mine up as the split pin
had gone allowing the bearing to come loose. :shock:

oh right, cheers mate, i hopefully going to paddocks on saturday and was gonna get a new one ,just wanted to be sure that there is one in there first. :oops:

You will have to strip the diff down to fit the inner bearing.

Not an easy job to do.

If it's anything like an English axle on a Ford it's not a DIY job at all.  The pinion bearings are tightened against a collapsable spacer to give the bearing a preload (they should never have any play in them) and the running resistance of the pinion is measured before the diff itself is fitted, and that's even more complicated.  Given that the whole thing needs stripping to get to the offending bearing I'd get a S/H diff and swap it straight out, don't mess about and risk it packing up whilst your driving.  I had a rear diff give up at speed and HOLY COW was it bad, the vibrations were so bad it banana'd the prop!
