Hi,
was wondering if any body had fitted one of the fuel heaters to there disco, if they are running on veg oil and if so has it made any difference?
its just that i'm looking at buying one, so just wondering if its worth while, thanks in advance. :)

I am awaiting the arrival of a heat exchanger and also a fuel filter which also heats the oil up.
I have been told the oil needs to be at 80degrees c to be at it's best and to minimise the possible damage to an engine

Use a fuel filter assy from a Peugot 406...they are heated :D

Have a look here:

My brother has been running dieselveg kit for a while now without a problems.
I am now in the process of revamping my disco and I will be fitting one as well.

i`m running a 50/50 mix of sunflower (prefer the smell!) and dino derv... no mods, other than upped boost & fuelling, no probs, just watching the weather and if its looking chilly, top up with dino derv to thin it down a bit
...curious about the pug 405 filter assembly tho? what years? straight swap?
cheers
..also have alook in HERE (bio fuels forum) (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewforum.php?f=50)

Also try 1993 Cavallier, mine had a filter heater too.

I ive just been looking at the heated fuel filters, but they only seem to warm the fuel if it is below 2 degrees then they only heat it to 6 degrees which is ok for diesel but doesn't it have to be about 80oc.
-
where did you get that info from?
I would have thought the heater will warm it up more than that as the water running around it will be about 80c. I know you have to take in that there will be a constant flow of veg oil through it so it cant linger and warm up totaly. It is why I have bought a heat exchanger too, to boost the temp up hopefully. I know you can buy electric ones for alot more money!!
-
The heated fuel filter is only heated to make the filtration easier and quicker, the main heating of the oil is done by the heat exchanger.
-
I knew you would be along soon Ed!! :D
-
The filter assembly i was looking at was a Bosch one which takes a standard filter cartridge, but I see there are loads of different ones  if you search some more.

vegoils at 80c is total tripe, dont care who the expert is.
its better heated im not disputing that, but most people just mix it at differing ratios in with there derv and never have problems, and just add more derv in the winter.
i did promise myself i wouldnt post on these veg oil things due to so much rubbish on them, but couldnt help myself.
im off now.
said me bit, leave it another 6 months before i cant resist again.
