I am thinking about spending a bit more money and time on my current land rover and then selling it on and buying something (land rover) with less work need and with MOT and on the road. Will be looking for a series still though!
Just don't have the time or money to finish the current project off and now i am driving i need something on the road!
So i just wanted to know what you might think i could get for:
1970 Series 2a SWB Truck cab
2.25lt Petrol engine (Recon'd Sump)
New Carb
New exhaust
New Fuel tank fitted
New fuel pipes
New Full wiring Loom
New Lights all round
Rear axle with Sailsbury Diff
New Oil filter
New Door tops
Straight body panels
Good condition Truck cab
Sound Chassis with no Rust
No rust on a mint bulkhead
4 Good road/mud tyres+spare
Spare bonnet
roll bar
Good brakes
Good steering
Runs well with no problems i can see

With all those new bits, there can't be much up with can there, or have some of the vital parts not bee fitted?
Not sure on a price, the MOT has a big bearing on a Series motor.
-
Stick with what you got, Fix it, get it MOT'ed and use it! Least you know the landy inside and out... If you get another you'll be back to square one :?
-
i aint got the money to carry on with it, i want a landy in good nick and on the road!! needing not much work due to being at college i dont have the time and i need transport!!!
shame i know but
-
I wouldn't expect more than £500 for a motor with no MOT.
-
yeah i thought that
i would love to put it into an MOT and finish it off just dont have the time to do what i want !
-
anyone here pay that??
-
What's needed for an MOT?
-
Im sure if you get rid of it you will lose money in that you only get £500 and then if you are strapped for cash you buy a cheap landrover that turns out to need all the work you just did to that one. You could end up buying something that ends up off the road a month later. Id do whatever you can to get that one working.
-
i would but its hard at the moment as i have no time for anything, let alone working on the land rover!!!
i will keep it and see how i get on with finishing it!!!

Have you got any mates who like Land Rovers? Local LR club? I know it must seem a bit of a job at this end, but if you just set yourself a couple of hours, or an hour, a night, you'll be surprised how quickly it takes shape. You'll lose if you sell, and on the other hand do a number on it and you've got a good truck for life. Best of luck. There must be loads of help around Bridgenorth.
-
why not get it through an mot and find out what is needed? may not be as much as you think  :D
-
true!
need to find a way to get it there now :?
-
Drive it.... you are insured if it is a pre-arranged MOT test.
-
ah ok
cheers for that
-
if you need any help im sure a couple of us would take a ride to bridge north for a day and help out, i am good at coffee and music selection
-
give me a shout when im home (after 17th dec ish) if you need owt mate

With an mot it would fetch 1.5 to 2K without £500 would be optomistic.
Stick it in for an mot, you may be supprised, after all the only real thing that would cost for mot would be welding and you say that there isn't any.
Providin brakes and lights are ok there shouldn't be any problems

Bit over optimistic there, There's a guy in the forsale section breaking his project as he couldn't get the £2.5k he was after, that was with a brand new bulkhead and a galv chassis. When I bought mine it had 10 months MOT and I paid £500 for it.
[edit]Yours'll be worth a bit more than a later model as ti's tax exempt htough, keep it you know you want to[/edit]
-
i will keep it indeed!
looking back i dont think i could of sold it!!!

-
i've been close to selling mine a few times
generally just after something big has broken on it
but i know really that i could never sell it :)
