Title: Rear windor position.
Post by: Sharpshooter on November 11, 2007, 11:45:20
Hi All.

My freind has a freelander serengheti, which i think is about 5 years old.

He was wondering if anyone could help him with a little annomoly.

The window in the tailgate goes up and down electronically. But, if you open it, it goes all the way down. If you then close it, it goes all the way up. You can't seem to have it open half way.

Is this correct?

Thanks Wayne.

Hi Sharpshooter

Should retract a little if fully closed so you can open the door, or stay in the position it was when opening the tailgate.When closing will stay in position if say it was half open, or if up when closing door will lift around an inch to close the gap and secure door.

You can open tailgate glass fully down with key fob, and from inside cab you can control how far you need the glass down, though from your explanation looks like a fault to me.I know on mine which is a 3-door if you have the back off it automatically goes down because there is an interlock.

Sorry cannot help any further, sure someone will have an idea.

Cheers

Basically, it opens and closes with the door ok. But you cant have it half open or closed. As it goes all they way. Thanks for your help. I will get him to get it checked out. :)

i had SOOOOO much fun trying to work this one out  :evil:  :evil:   NOT.  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

as schuee says.....with the window all the way in the closed position to start with.

press the button in the cab to lower the window.........on its way down you can let go of the button and the window will stop and stay there....at your chossen place

but if you press the button again it will only head down wards or all the way closed....

if you want to make it lower or higher from your original chossen postion you will need to lower the windown all the way down and back up again and start from the closed position again  :roll:  :roll:

it took me a while to get the hang of it....infact i have tried explaining t to the misses a few times and she still cant get the hang of it  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

Found this on the Freelander Club website, for future reference.

How can I recalibrate the rear window operation?

The control unit needs to know the position of the rear window glass for safe operation. If you have problems with operation of the rear window it might be worth trying this procedure.

    * Disarm the anti-theft alarm system.
    * Disconnect the vehicle battery.
    * Wait 5 seconds.
    * Reconnect the vehicle battery.
    * The CCU will now drive the tail door window to the fully lowered position.
    * Turn the ignition switch to the 'ignition' position.
    * Press and hold the tail door window switch in the 'Up' position until the window has reached the fully closed position.
    * The tail door window should now be calibrated. If calibration has failed, a warning buzzer will sound.

Before you disconnect - make sure you know your radio code  :)
