Title: Is it catching?
Post by: lambert on October 29, 2007, 09:27:38
On the way in to work today i came across 4 seperate cars that had been indulging in high speed field parking during the night. Is it localised idiots or are we seeing the result of all those who passed their test last summer discovering the joy of cold wet tarmac?

funny you should say that i have just driven towards mansfield down the rainworth bypass and there was a car unrecognisable in the trees with about four fire engines around it.

its not all the people who passed there test in summer, i passed my test in this summer

There is a car in a field who some how managed to clear a 6ft ditch and the 3ft tree stump into the field. I dont think the farmer took too kindly to it as from the marks in the mud it looks like he has just shoved it out the way with a tractor!!!

Rain after a dry spell is lethal.
We were in Singapore on a stopover a few yrs ago. The hotel's bar was used by some Brummies who were working over there (cheapest beer in town) They were working on skid testing the road surfaces in Singapore and told me there were dozens of accidents after each rain shower so their work was very important..

We had all had a few Tiger Beers, so I took it with a pinch of salt.

The following day it rained. It was like stair rods for 10 minutes.... within minutes of it starting all we could hear was the wail of ambulance and police sirens as they dashed to RTAs.

The Brummies were right !

Unfortunately many drivers don't realise that just a small amount of rain on top of the layer of rubber and oil is much worse than a road that's sodden after hours of rain.

The agin there's plenty of muppets who don't slow down in the wet, irrespective of the conditions.

We had about 5 dry days up here then 15 mins of heavy rain....i went out about 3 hrs later and on the road round the corner there was a freshly demolished wall into a field complete with an astravan in the field!

before the school summer holidays me and two friends were going to the local snooker place in skegby, it was that damp fine rain that soaks everything, my friend was driving and he slowed down to turn right as you do and there was a que of traffic behind while we waited for the cars the clear so we could turn right when he eventually set off there was one hell of a massive bang and we skidded around abit, a motobiker had over taken the que of cars behind us then hit us turning right, he broke alot of bones verbally abused all the people including me who as it turns out saved his life due to his injurys and wrote my friends punto off, he must of been doing at least 50, months later he is still claiming it was our fault so i will have to go to court soon as a witness

it shock me up alot because it happend on a thursday and i had my driving test on the monday after,

cheers kieran
