Title: Front Diff 'Unhappy'
Post by: Evilgoat on October 18, 2007, 11:37:41
Rabbit has taken to making distressing gridning noises when the front hubs are locked. While I was doing the clutch cable I hung off of the front prob which promplty went clunk-crunch. Swinging on it and tugging it about produced more of the same noises and I noticed that the movement is at the input to the diff. I assume a bearing has disentegrated.

So

I'm guessing there is a bearing in there. How easy is it to get the thing out and get a replacement part? What else is likeley to have been nuked? I have a feeling the diff is now empty too.

I think diff might be the way to go, I dont really have the space or time to dismantle one. drop it off and count the splines I guess.

Severe case of deja vu here :)

PM me with amount of beer tokens you would require. Does this mean I get to Suzota Central?
