Hay guys im think of getting a 1993 2.5td Pajero... What is the normal problems on these motors? Are they is to get lift kits for etc? what kind of suspension setup do they have etc? and where do i got to get offroad parts? what kind of mpg can i expect.. more or than my 300tdi disco and how much diff
Soz for all the question but been 4x4 with landys for ages and feel that with all my landy bad luck its time for a change

hi Oz
The 2.5 is very capable, albeit a bit slow, but capable. you need to watch out for the belts, ensure they are changed, as they can have a tendancy if not looked after to snap. They run great on veg with no mods, SWB are more econmical mid to high 20's mpg, Lwb's low 20's to mid 20's mpg. The 2.8 can suffer from pump seal problems, but the motor is chain driven and you dont have the bother with the belts. slightly more uneconomical, but again can run on veg, but not to the degree of the 2.5 (less of a ratio)
3.5 petrols are proving popular at the mo plently of power, quite , refined, and equals the diesels on mpg and slightly cheaper to run, you can also go down the lpg route.
As for mods, you can now get suspension lifts, body lifts, bumpers fabricated sliders, etc.. it getting better.
Have a look here

Hay cheers dude.. with petrol tho how are the with water as round here it water, water and more water + a wee bit of mud lol... so ur tell me that the petrol one does same mpg
-
yes mate, if not better, couple of years ago it was diesel all the way, but petrols are equally better if not better on mpg and you get a better ride. as for water pretty good too, snorkles are available so go and get yourself one

Cheers dude well deff get one just got figger out wich now
-
My old Shogun V6 went through water no problem. I've had it coming over the top of the bonnet once and it was fine. The 24 valve models are best in water, as they don't have a distributor to worry about.
-
AHH ok so what one is that 3.0l 3.5l soz completely new to these.. what kind of price should i pay?
-
You can get the 24 valve on both the 3.0 and 3.5. Mine was a 1995, which I think is about when they changed over. Price depends on what you're looking at. If you just want something for offroading then you could probably pick up a SWB for under £1000, but a decent LWB could be a couple of grand. I've currently got a 3.5Gdi, the later flared arch model, and that cost me £2600

Hi
Just done a pump seal on a 2.8TD and its not THAT much of a pain if you know how to do it.
Father is running a 2.8TDI on 50/50 veg, just as capbable as the Disco but a LOT more power on tap. There are moments you could mistake it for a petrol, loveley smooth, tourquey powerful engine.
-
Hay guys just got back from testing her and all the bits works (gears etc) although if i put my foot down below 3/4 on the throtle it wont rev and higher. its like its over fueling or summin ne ideas is a 3.0l v6
