Hi all
My youngest lad came up to me just now with his new toy (a little ford focus rally car ) and said why don't you put rally stickers on your car dad .
I was about to fob him off when I had a thought  (I don't have them often so stay with me  ) Could we not get white squares made with the club web address along the top and our joining numbers big in the middle motor sport door number style then people would spot them at events or on the road (and possibly spot them for a hobby #-o) They could be made sticky or magnetic or maybe reversed and reusable for putting on the inside of windows so they can be removed for family/work cars . Tell us what you think. :D
Its just an idea  if it has come up before and been panned forgive me and I will crawl back under-me rock. :D
-
Funnily enough, Paul just ordered a big set of them for his Bobtail :-)
-
You can indeed, muddyweb is waiting for the white vinyl to come in so
he can make mine. :D
It will have the MC url on it and my membership number in the middle.
I'll post some photos when I have them. 8)
-
Go on then :?: £££££ :?: :D
-
And when are they going in the shopping for stickers section :?: :D
-
One more question :?: why when I look myself up in the member list am I number 428 yet my joining number is 433 :?
-
I like this idea ones that can go on inside rear side windows sounds good to me.
-
Your membership number is the one shown on your profile. The number on the memberlist page will change depending on how the list is sorted.
-
This is the design I came up with. :D
-
Just thought.......
Put an upside down www.mud-club.com under your number and it would still look right if you ended up upside down.
My number 66 wouldn't quite work.
Ed
-
According to your profile Ed you are 70 :?:
-
andy
you can do the same too with your membership number :)
i cannot though
-
incidentally i see there is no #1
a hint of portmeirion here hmm!
-
mmmmmmmm
more stickers
With my number being 906, dont think it would matter too much which way up i put the sticker would it :D
-
maybe the sticker could be made with the infamous splat in the background and have the number emblazoned in front of it?

Like the sound of that idea :D
-
Oops
66 in the list
If I click profile I don't see the Memb number.
Doing it wrong again?
Ed

Thanks Andy.
Back to watching Ultimate Force.
Mantec snorkels on the Discos. I thought they were Safari in the earlier series.
Ed
-
I could use my white squares to cover up the err white squares I painted on the doors of my 90
I thought it illegal to drive around with numbers on the car :?

I always understood that driving on the road with 'Competition Number's displayed was' frowned upon', that's why you see Comp Safari, CCV & RTV motors with black tape crosses over the number.
Imay be wrong........
-
You can get magnetic plastic signs, how cost affected this would be not sure, failing that I've some stickers in the rear quater windows on mine which are removable and can be applied as many times as you like.

The main reason you see motors with tape across the numbers is because they are entered in an event where the number is not valid. (But the event number is valid for something else, or they just didn't want to remove it)
I don't know of any restriction on having them on the vehicle. I've certainly never had a problem.

Magnetic stuff is available but it's expensive (and it won't work on a 90 ;-) )
If you want something removable for inside, print it out and laminate it, you can put it inside the window then.
Cost depends on the size people are after... what are we thinking ? A5, A4... bigger, smaller ?
-
snot fair, at 1200 my sticker would be more expensive than you guys
-
I think A4 done landscape should be big enough
and I like the idea of the four digit's costing more :D
(should have joined quicker  )
Only joking
I always understood that driving on the road with 'Competition Number's displayed was' frowned upon',
Not half as much as a stupid jap dragon in full technicolour stuck down the sides of a 1.8d orion seen in safeways carpark last week ,boy was that frowned upon  I mean who drives a burgandy car with red rally mudflaps a yellow sunstrip so low that you have to tilt your head to see out of the windscreen and green L.E.D'S on the window squirters
-
Yes, I think the "Splat" should be on, people recognise it before the web address.
-
Love this idea mud-club splat with 333 over the top. I can just see it now, i want one, no i want two! silly me.
-
is 333 the son of the omen? :D
-
  Nice one Beast
DM :)

Do you read the bible "revelations" or did you get that of an old iron maiden album, anyway i'm only half bad.
-
who,s 667 neighbour of the beast?? sort of from iron maiden but mainly cos of the username
-
Driving around with competition numbers displayed is frowned on by the MSA, but I dont think there is any law against it, so as long as you dont have anything to do with the MSA or hold a competition licence, no problem and even if you do how would they know?
-
frowned isnt the same as against the rules though!
-
i didnt think it was legal to have No's on the doors cos i remove my doorplates after each event or put tape through them, will find out though
-
Well, as I see it, you can have phone numbers, company names, company logos and all sort of other things on the side of your car, van, bus or truck... don't see how this would be any different.
-
I seem to recall there being an MSA requirement about competition numbers not making it onto the road, probably as a precautionary measure to try and stop the "competition" entering the road (there's been a number of cases of people racing near hillrally sites etc) but can't remember the specifics...
perhaps I'm just mad :?
-
I'll have a mooch in the Blue Book to see if there is anything there, but since we aren't an MSA club, and don't run competitve events, I'm not sure it applies.
-
neither am I, but I could well be mistaken..
it does mean herbie was running foul of the relevant rules though :)
-
Well, that's just bananas.
-
Mine is *not* going to be a competition number,
Mine is nothing more than my joining number.
-
your's *is* going to be the letters "E" and "R" with a funny little crown on it :)
-
Oi!
Daz!
No!
He'll get upset again :(

I've seen BT vans with fleet numbers and taxies with phone numbers a foot high down the sides so I thing it's ok :D
It's a club sticker not a W.R.X. entry application...
