Title: TD5 Starting Problem
Post by: Landyrover on September 30, 2007, 19:33:55
Hi All,

A great green laning trip today ended earlier than expected when my 2002 ES refused to start :(  All the dash lights came on with the key turned in the ignition, but the engine didn't turn over at all. Managed to get going with a tow and get home OK though...

Once back, we jacked up the front of the car and tapped the starter motor solenoid a few times with a spanner - she then started on the key without hesitation and has done thus so far... (fingers crossed)

Is it possible to obtain a solenoid or am I gonna have to spend more of my hard earned dosh on a complete new starter?? Only just replaced the steering box so would prefer not to have to pay out more ££££'s...

Cheers,

Nick

Try removing the terminals on the starter & chassis earth, give them a thorough clean, reattach firmly.

Starter checked, no excessive wear and tear on solenoid, just needed a cleanup :D

Cheers,
