or rather a suggestion.
sports cars.
how come they don't get the kicking off-roaders do from the green ecomentalist brigade?
other than to go silly fast they have no point.
unlike our steeds which can do lots of important stuff like save lives, earn livings and tow stuff.
and yet they are, on the whole, no more ecconomical.
so in future deflect the attention of the ecowarrior towards the frivolous and wholly un-usefull sportscar.

My previous car was a Nissan 350Z and that never attracted daft eco comments despite having a 3500cc engine. When a work colleague saw my Land Cruiser he said it did nothing for the ozone or my carbon footprint.... I put him right in that my present car has a smaller engine and burns less fuel.
There are some very mis-informed people around :?

Oh thats great, why not lets go and mess up the one automotive industry this country is good at [-X (which employ a large number of british citizens) but then we brits were never any good at looking after and supporting each other.
Some sports cars are much worse than others (very much like 4x4s), but if driven sensibly then a some of them are just as econmical as a lot of ordinary cars if not potentially more so.
Either way live and let live
Ps Buy british beef, buy british lamb and buy british cars

Ok not a true sports car but I once had a 206 GTi. It returned 26 MPG. The 206 GTi 180 returns 23 MPG
My TD5 Disco, 30 mpg..go figure!!!!!
But its my 4x4 thats destroying the planet :?: :?
-
How about not attacking other car owners and rather more attacking the whole ludicrousmother-earth-gia crap instead? Global warming is a myth and those who shout loudest are usually the largest hypocrytes jetting off here there and everywhere, driving bloody Prius's when they could walk, etc.
Environmentalism....... :x
-
If anyone has a go at me re my 4x4's I put them straight and tell them that my vehicle emits 75% less CO2 than their 2.0 family saloons....the reason....I run mine on 100% biodiesel. O:)
Not only is it nearly 20 PENCE PER LITRE CHEAPER than dino-diesel (less money to the cash-grabbing government  and more pennies in my pocket), it is almost CO2 neutral. Everytime I feel my car up with biodiesel I save £14.30!! For me thats £56 per month!
Sometimes it's great to feel very smug.

Feeling your car up with bio-diesel???? sounds rather pervy! I had jus suggested that to Her Ladyship. It was then she pointed out that I had a large lump on my head. It didn't help that she pointed it out with a frying pan. You know what? When I came round, she was right, there was a large lump on my head!

my 4x4 - 1.6lt carb petrol vitara. Which according to some kind soul from Greenpeace wo glued a leaflet to it, is a Climate killer.
Parked on one side, Landrover Defender 90 TD5
Parked on the other. Jaguar XJS12 V12 soft-top
And my Daily drive parked not a million miles away, 2.5T Audi Quattro
So how did they figure the 1.6 was bad. Admittedly a significant amount of Salisbury Plain was stuck to it

i agree whilst spotscars are not the most eco friendly, but lets atleast stick togather here with them and have a full on attack on these idiots who say we kill the planet and teach them to look at china
cheers kieran
message to all members of friends of the earth and simular groups: just because you have no hobbys or real opinions or friends come to think of it, go and get a life join us and live it!

Funny thing is most of them drive Said Sports cars I know a few people who moan about Off-Roaders and are members of the Bobble hat parade and drive Mazda MX5's and old Sports cars like Triumphs one even has 2 Ferrari's

1 guy had a go at me in a car park once, because i was polluting the planet.... so i took him round the back opened the boot and showed him the big black gas tank!!! That shut him up
only problem is ... its not completely connected yet :D
-
Aparently it's also warmebr on the planet of mars right now, so who's been driving round up there then
Thing is with global warming that everyone who has jumped on the bandwagon (and we all know about that sort of people) have done so for their own gain. The sort of people you hear ranting on about it generally derive either their income or their own sense of purpose by doing so.
It's got a lot more to do with solar flares than what I drive.

Good point this cause i had a sports car in the 80's and we got loads of hassle from others, such as why do you need that, no luggage space, no space for kids (did'nt have any).
Was'nt many greens than but still the your going to fast moaners, in fact quite a few purchaesed 4x4's cause of the capaictiy, not the need for speed, plenty of room for kids etc.
Just the way times have changed, see a lot of middle aged fat women driving them now, so what does'nt bother me.

i like this "green" thing.
my disco (td5) does 28-32 mpg
my 90 (2.3 petrol) 12-15
and my 90 on lpg :D
ive had a sticker on my disco about the green issue but they walked past my 90 (must have seen the gas tanks in the back...lol).

All cars are wonderfull.
Apparently according to people with bigger brains than me, our planet is in a hollocene which apparently happens every 12000 or so years and is bagsically a period of climatic unrest such as heating or cooling and this has been on going for ever and nowt we do will stop it. Apparently.
All i was getting at is why are we specifically targeted against all others?
-
I almost bought a TVR Griffith instead of the 110
Couldn't decide between the torquier 500, or the noisier 430 though
Curious Fact;
Did you know the Griff is banned in Switzerland (too noisy!), but the average citizen can own a Klashnikov

Considering both my RR's have been fitted with performance engines (BMW 4.4V8 and Jaguar 4.2AJV8 SC) I find it amusing that they point at the bigger car and call it a planet killer.
However, I know WHY they do it.
We are EASY TARGETS. I have been told this by Greenpeace themselves.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. However - just for kicks if they moan at you, ask them how much fuel they use and what sort of emissions are kicked out by the Rainbow Warrior - it certainly doesn't run on fairy bubbles.
Notice that even the Airlines are now pointing the finger at shipping....
-
What about a 4x4 sportscar that goes offroad too?

Couldn't agree more...
I always ask who's the most powerful....man or mother nature?? I know who's been her the longest & who's gonna be here long after we've departed.
I'm not saying we shouldn't cut pollution & maintain green & pleasant lands we love for generations to come...if only people put more effort into what they can do to help rather than pointing the finger in this blame cultured world
My tuppence worth

so whats your trousers got to do with it?
I think we need to rise above it. Its easy to get upset but the reality is they have already tried to make it difficult and tax us out of existance...it hasnt worked.
i CHOOSE to own one ...there you go i said it! my choice.
