Just a thought!
There are some obvious ones, names, surnames, car regs, etc. Then there are some abstract, unusual even scary ones.
Let us know where your's comes from............
I'll start you off with mine - Auf Wiedersehen Pet.
I'm not a builder (I'm a Technology Teacher) but I loved watching Auf Pet. Still watch it frequenty on DVD. Use Eblag to collect signed photos, etc.
Ebay link to me - http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/auf_wiedersehen_pet
I'm registered every where as AWP so if you spot it somewhere else, it's probably me.
-
Guess
-
I'm an Ulsterman by birth Though I was raised in Yorkshire.
-
Guess
You eat kangaroo bits????
-
When I got the audi a problem with the wastegate made it 'bleat' when comming off load. Someone commented it sounded like a goat was stuck in the engine bay and so it stuck.
Sounds like a trapped pigeon now though :(
-
Straightforward.
Overweight bloke called Simon.
Big Fat Si.
Hate it when people pronounce it bigfatsee. Grrrr.
-
Mines fairly obvious I suppose but there is a bit of a story behind it.
Years ago, I was part of a banger racing team, I would have been about 21 then, another member of the team was <ahem> older than me, so I was called Frankie-Boy, simple really.
Heck, that was 35 years ago, doesn't time fly when you're enjoying yourself.
-
my mates call me my name especially after i started shaving my head  they use matt very rarely
-
Surname is Snook, so have been called that since skool, use it for all web stuff sometimes it is Snooky35 as that was the 1st number i could use when I got my hotmail account
-
Quite easy really, I'm a fan of Pink Floyd. I use a lot of warez / mp3 sites and people point me in the right direction for Floyd related stuff. Again, I use it on all the forums so if you see it its me.
-
simple first 5 letters of my surname....
-
Registration Plate!

The cartoon 'The Perils of Penelope Pitstop'. I'm not really a very pink girlie, so couldn't really use that - instead of going 'ohhhh, heyyylp!' when something goes wrong, I normally get stuck in, and am currently lightly coated in engine oil to prove it
The car's called chuggaboom, as it's the only diesel in the familiy, it makes a very different noise to the V8's. Chuggaboom had already gone, as had tail end charlie.....so the obvious choice was The Ant Hill Mob!
t'other half, RRB is easy. You buy an old Range Rover, you certainly get the Blues when can be relied on to go wrong for the first 3-6 months of ownership. Oh yeah, and the car's blue in colour. The car's also known as the Spanish Inquisition (nobody expects it), so Cardinal Biggles was in the frame for a while
-
Use to own/run a Burger van, But now work on the railway so known on other forums as Trainman
-
A mate of mine started calling my Lyndsey when I started off roading after one of the characters from the fast show, Simon and Lyndsey were the two hopeless off roaders. When I joined Bristol Landrover Owners Club they had an MSN website which you had to have a name for, Lyndsey wasn't available but Lyndsey731 was, just so happens that I was born January 1973.

The one think I remember about the Ant Hill Mob is putting your feet through the floor to propel the vehicle, very apt with some of these vehicles
-
Someone already had Blue Range Rover when I joined, so I turned it around.
Nothing to do with the fact that I was utterly fed up with it at the time and on here looking for advice
-
Have used sleeplessparadise for about 9 years now, started on the interenet as helenj28 and then when hubby started working nights and I stayed up chatting I changed my name to this. Now get called it outside of forums...little worrying...would much prefer Babe (...that'll do pig) LOL
Although that being said, a certain site moderator sure does call me babe often
-
well !!!! It started out a little rude and questioning my parentage because I had a slight case of 'builders bum' As I am a welder it was changed slightly and became my e-mail address as a laugh....... 5 years later.......

From what I recall, it all started after we moved to our previous house in Norfolk, which was a rather nice old Victorian school house complete with the old school hall, which being rather found of 'double entendres', the house was renamed 'Farkham Hall'. Think about it.
Some mates came round, and being in the depths of Norfolk where a local term of enderement was the word 'Shag', the Lord bit was thrown in, to suit the new house. I think the Pyle bit came in after the large amounts of horse poop that my wife's animals produced.
It all seemed very logical at the time, but then we were all rather squiffy on fine ale!

Years ago when the (BTM) TV series were being aired on British TV, my wife went to Australia to see a friend, who'd emigrated there.
She had instructions to bring me a hat back, so brought me a Snowy River (another model)
Upon finally getting internet at (the previous 'BTM Towers') I did some research & found out what the hat actually was.
A bit more digging revealed an on-line supplier (as British importers were quoting £100, 3 - 6 months delivery & no shaping)
Strand Hatters in Sydney delivered one to my door (Via air-mail) in 6days, shaped & for less than £60!!
When 'Small-Child' was toddling & starting to talk, whenever 'BTM' was on TV, the cry would go up & the finger pointed at the screen;
"Daddy!!"
The name stuck, as the mother-in-law called it whenever I wore the hat.
Hence, it became the screen-name on every forum, I've joined (even non-Landy ones)

SWMBO use to be the manager of an Animal home and we use to take on a lot of the dogs that vets said shouldnt/couldnt be rehomed (temprement or illnes), so could have anything up to 10 dogs at one time.
They would be all sorts of mutt's and i also used the saying "Dogs B*££*^ks" alot and "It's the Mutz".
So when i needed a nickname on a site wife suggested it, some times add something on the end if someone else is using just Mutz.
-
err, cos im welsh, and my mum breed's tibetan terriers, so welshbreed. I also go by "SmeezuS" or "Smee" which was dubbed from a friend after many alterations cos someone forgot to spell smith with a h, when I weren't there. I'm told it was a funny night.

Some people have called me Kenny(Southpark) for the above reasons

Guess... go on.... guesss....!
I used to race as a young squaddie... all events up to and including downhill. In fact my claim to fame is being clocked on radar during one downhill @45mph.... cartwheeling!
Just back from Zermatt where I was skiing with a few of my old team mates. Scared us when we realised it had been 20 years since I had been in the team!
Anyway... that's why Skibum... 346... squaddies will understand that one easily...! Wheneer there is dobt about a soldier under discussion... the last 3 digits of the army number is used... "Smith 123" or "Smith 987"... 346 is my last 3!
Skibum
P.S. The pic AINT me!

WB = Welsh [person of questionable parentage].
I picked up the nickname at University (and wish I could find the cartoon that went with it), and discovered that while AndyC was almost always taken on any forum I've ever tried, andycwb is rarely used.
So, andycwb it is.
(The cartoon was a picture of the Ghostbusters logo, with a slightly overweight ghost wearing a daffodil, spilling beer, and brandising a leek, with the caption "Welsh [person of questionable parentage] - Drinking Makes Me Feel Good!")
-
And whoever put the code in to replace bar-steward with [person of questionable parentage] has too much time on their hands!!
