i looked at the ones from roccia 4x4 and i think there a bit to big, they stand out to much for me.

and the ones from devon 4x4 are more what i'm looking for but cheaper :lol:

You can get seconds that need a little work/painting...., but you gets what yum pay for...... :wink:

Paddocks do the flexible ones, don't get the fibre glass ones as I did they break very easily but the main problem is as they don't give when you hit them they dent the wings.

chris, what i was trying to say is that devon 4x4 are not the cheapest around.(but they do very good products)

and


gav, a friend has the fibre glass ones and they're _______.(make up own word) they're split and cracked.

what i'm after is tidy upper after cutting the arches (5 door) as i've just got a set of 255/85/16 so they won't be sticking out the arches

If you look down THIS PAGE (http://roccia.co.uk/acatalog/Discovery_Series_1_Flares.html) on Rocca's site then there are standard flares, not the compatition one's I think you've been looking at.  :wink:

The ones from Devon cost more because they're imported from Oz and are made by Rangie Spares. These were the first wheel arch flare that were produced for the Range Rover and Disco and are the ones that all the rest have been copied from.
Some people don't like the fibreglass ones but I've had a set on the Disco for about 5 years and only ever broken one. That was glassed back together, filled and sprayed. Now you wouldn't know it was ever broken.  :wink:

I know what you mean they are easy to repair and the bloke I got them from said he would supply replacements on an individual basis, which I thought was quite resonable of him. The problem myself and discocwk have found with them is when your in deep ruts if you hit them into a bank they don't give at all hence the dented wings on both our motors, still the odd dent gives them a bit of individual styling. :roll:

To be honest when I have a spare couple of quid I'll go for different ones

IIRC I took out nearer 3 inches when I did mine. There should be full instructions when you get the kit.
You'll have fun with a 5 door as you need to cut into the main structure of the rear doors.  :wink:

Fibreglass or plastic .....you will find that wing or bodywork damage will be just as  severe with plastic (and in our experiments more so).drive over some flexible plastic flares in a heavy vehicle and some of the force is absorbed through the tyre,never the less plastic is deformable and will stand up very well.

tip a discovery with plastic flares on its side and drive over it with the same vehicle.......

the flares will look the same and the bodywork will be a mess.

Whatever you bolt onto the bodywork of your vehicle will in effect become a part of your bodywork.

ordered parts today so i'l start on saturday, hope i don't have to take 3" out, i don't need arches that big as i'm only going to 255/85 and not 35" or 33/12.50.

i'm/was running 31/10.50/15 which are 30"+bit so changing to 255/85 which are 33"+bit then that adds 1.5" all round. i think i will have to read the destructions as for the rear doors, i'm still thinking on that one.

Can I make a suggestion?

Tape them on first and see how you think they look, from the side and behind.

I was running 235/85/16 (about 32") grizzly claws and the arches needed to be trimmed, on my 200tdi I just cut the arches off. When I changed to my 300tdi I thought I would do it properly and put arches on, the problem was they didn't fill the arches and they looked a bit daft (in my opinion). I stuck some spacers on and they looked a bit better, but not great.

do you mean you want to cut the arches to give more clearence but do not want the wheels to stick out so you would not need extended arches???
so is the question can you get arches like the standard ones which are more like trim but would need to be a longer shape for when you cut your arches out?
i have not seen such a thing but it sounds like a plan !!! :roll:

i will be running 255/85/16 (33"+) but saying that i cant find +/-0 offset wheels i want so i've now got +8 offset, but a friend has a set of wheel spacers on his s3 and running 285/75 but he's selling that in a few weeks but keeping the wheels+tyres so i hoping to do a deal my old wheels+tyres for the wheel spacers (no he's not getting another landrover)
