Title: Rocker Cover
Post by: Yoshi on July 31, 2007, 14:39:23
On me rocker cover, or more precise on the cylinder head there is a half moon shaped dip where it meets the rocker cover, when i took the rocker cover off i didnt notice anything falling off but now there is oil coming out of there, i used a new gasket but as said there is still oil throwing itself out when the engine is running, can anyone tell me what part i need to buy to fix this!

Cheers

Dan

Yes, you need a half moon shaped piece of metal. This will stop the oil coming out

...just to clarify, is this a piece that looks like it is CUT out of the head/Rocker cover.. or a piece that looks to be BROKEN out....?

could mean some aly welding or a new head, but if it looks like its ment to be there, i would be checking the old gasket againt the new one...

fingers crossed

Is this a 200tdi?

If so, there are a couple of semicircular seals.

You'll need to get hold of a new one.

I think that a bit of RTV sealant is the best thing to use to seal them in place.

Probably only pence from a LR dealership.

(if it's a 300 it could be a lot worse)

Its a 200tdi, and would these dips be in both the front and the back?

Will get onto me dealer tomorrow for the correct parts :D
