Wow! They are some nice looking Jeeps! 8)
Just a quick questions - standard in standard spec how good are they off road?
What Land Rover would you compare a standard 4l Jeep :D

Erm, crap? The problem is that for the last 20 years or so (since the end of the CJ and beginning of the YJ), Jeep has had to keep inadequate, too low, suspension bolted under their vehicles. This is due to the numptys who would forget that they were in a 4x4 and try and drive like a sports car...
After they got out of hospital, they'd blame Jeep and sue them! So to cover their assests, they kept the suspension low down with teeny tyres.
Thats the first, and most important thing to fix on any stock Jeep. Bung a 2.5" lift kit and some 30" tyres under there and they'll match any stock Defender out there.

BTW, here's mine. Older ('91) leafer with Spring Over Axle conversion.

The closest comparison is probably a SWB Defender
With a TJ eg the ones made from 1997 to 2005? first things to check/add are a transfer case skid plate and some 31" x 1.5 15 Mud Tyres with will fit with piosibly only a minor simple modification to the bump stops

I think his general use will be general fun on road, and when I can convince him - the odd off road pay and play day 8) Im only in a freelander so I doubt we will get anywhere close to the wranglers limits :D
So its comparable to a SWB Defender, but has leather, comfy seats, and an audio system?? 8)

That would be a Sahara spec then...
