i've been on my dad's insurance with nfu since i was 17, and have had both my series 3 and my 90 insured (as well as a micra   ) They're very reasonable and are very quick to pay up etc.  Not sure wot theyre like with mods etc because i havent told them about mine

NFU are good with mods - if you tell them. If you don't they (like any insurance company) may refuse to pay out.

They were quite happy with the additions to mine, and AFAIK, the premium only went up slightly due to the additional value of the add ons.

Having said that, the additions to mine are only cosmetic - not sure what they're like with lift / winch etc.

I have mine insured with NFU.  They are ok with winch & lift. Not sure about other mods though.

Im another with NFU, premium didn't go up when it changed to being a soft top and even went down when the soft top was stolen and replaced by a truck cab.

Was a bit disappointed with the initial offer for my motor until they said plus vat, meaning I got more than I was expecting. Paid for motor 30 days after it was stolen and remainder of policy was transferred to new vehicle. They have also let me insure a 2nd vehicle short term for a reasonable amount when I've been changing vehicles.

Very happy with both price and service - admittedly I am slightly older than 17.

TESCO is always worth a shot. Our Defender is £40/month as a second car. It's worth a ring i reckon.

That sounds good - I'm paying just over £400 with NFU on my W plate td5 station wagon, although I do have a few claims against me

I'am insured with the NFU too they know all about my mods i.e 300tdi conversion etc..and pay about £300 fully comp, any driver over 25 protected no claims home breakdown cover buisness use and agreed value.. I have found cheaper in the past but they can't match everything that the nfu do and when i have had to claim they have been stunning!! 8)  8)  (only once i had an arguement with a lampost!!)

Without wishing to be a pain and still managing it - if you really are the main driver then but you father is declared as the main driver then I don't think you're covered at all. I thought - and I hope I'm wrong - that insurance is one contract where concealing anything nullifies the contract at a stroke.

Incidentally my local NFU office wouldn't talk to me once I mentioned the engine had been replaced, the axles had been replaced and I had 6 points in the past 5 years albeit all now expired. Put like that it doesn't sound surprising. I really wanted to go with them as I had my first LR with them and they were excellent in every way.

Named drivers are covered by insurance or else the ability to have named drivers wouldnt exist..would it. Main driver is basically the person in which the landrover is insured under, the policy is in his name, named drivers that have been placed upon the insurance are fully covered under the policy

OK - I understood the main driver was the principal user of the vehicle and that the named drivers were others who used it as well.

I wish I'd realised this when insuring my daughter's car at 17 and curse the brokers who told me that as she was the main driver the policy would have to be based on her.

I'm paying about £160 a year for my V8 110, but limited mileage to 3000 miles.  Can't remember the name of the insurer off the top of my head though.

No, you were right.  The policy holder is the main driver.  If they can prove this isnt the case, nobody is insured I would imagine.  Thing is, how can they prove it.  At the end of the day though, misleading them is fraud.  You knows your risks and you takes your chances ;)

I am between landies at the mo but have been with flux the last few years, mods declared and no probs.  Only downside is they wanted double the premium to name my missus.  Shame, she just cant drive my landy!  lol
