I am rebuilding my 110 chassis up.
The rear axle has seen better days and its on drum brakes.
Will a disco/RRC rear axle fit? Is it strong enoug?, as it is heavier duty axle compared to my 90.

I don't think the disco axle would be up to it if the 110 was loaded to it's capacity. 300tdi 110s had a disc braked Salibury which could be one option. The other is the TD5 axle which is a Rover type but with a 4 pin diff, which is one of the jobs that the racer needs as I bent the salisbury quite well last time out but we're still waiting for it to be strengthened.
Ah yes that's the third option, a Wolf axle but not easy to come by.

can you buy the 300 tdi bits for the salisbury and bolt it on to make a easy disk conversion.

i just did one for my 90 last weekend baz...
im sure it muse be okay for a 110.

The Salisbury was originally fitted to the series three to stop rear halfshaft breakages in two wheel drive.
Now you all know the series was part time four wheel drive.
Also the new 2007 Defender 110 I've seen has a "normal" Rover like rear axle.
Apart from the carrying weight. Somebody please tell mt the GVW of a Range Rover Classic and a Discovery. I don't see that a Discovery axle should give any problems.
The Salisbury as I keep telling people wasn't called the "bullit" axle by Foed for fun. It is bullit proof and will stand a lot more use and abuse than a Rover type axle.

I can't say for sure but I would gess that the 2007 Defender has the same axle as the TD5, i.e. the rover axle but with the P38 Rangie type 4 pin diff.
Disco & RRC GVM from http://www.csse.monash.edu/~lloyd/4/LandRover/Discovery/ is 2720kg. 110 GVM is 2950kg

I have a 1984 110 with the same axle. I have often enquired about changing it to a 90 rear disc axle. But everyone says not to. I just go by what everyone has told me. Dont forget the springs are larger on the rear of the 110 for a reason. :)

There wont be that much wait in it really. I am looking at turning it into a double cab. it will have 5 seats and the tub will just have the spare and the Tesco shop :lol:
I cant see me needing the extra 230kgs. I might keep the 110 see if I can clean it up if not Ill try a disco one.

Its not that. If you have a picky MOT tester. He will notice that the disco axle is not rated as high.
My 110 is a class 7. It has a slightly higher axle rating. It was like that from new.

thats why I'm having those hubs and stub axles of that axle we picked up :P
